Cyprus Reunification Movement

Postby Tim Drayton » Tue May 26, 2009 10:04 am

While studying the list of candidates for the upcoming European Parliament elections, I noticed that an organisation calling itself the 'Cyprus Reunification Movement' (or 'Κίνημα Επανένωσης Κύπρου' in Greek) is fielding four candidates. I also noticed that one of those sponsoring movement leader Ioannis Karseras' candidacy was a certain Shener Levent.

I must confess to being ignorant about this movement and what it stands for. It has a website in Greek at www.kekcy.com . Does anybody have more information about who they are and what they stand for? Does this endorsement by Şener Levent mean that they have some kind of link with the United Cyprus Party - Jasmine Movement that recently contested the elections in the north?

I would be very grateful for any information that anybody can provide.
