A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I understand your hatred towards Turks. They were after all your masters for 400 years. If my mum, sister, daughter was f****d for centuries by Greeks I would feel the same hatred.

It goes without saying that the existence and appearance of nationalist retards like yourself, invites the existence and appearance of similar ones from the Greek Cypriot side, and vice-versa. I wonder who rattled your cage, and you woke you up to come to this forum, after all these months of absence.

the author, who claims to be “a Hellenic Nationalist living in New York City”

provides us with the following translation of the slogan being debated in this thread, which appears in a photograph of a banner that was displayed during a football match:

'The translation for the last pic is "The only good Turk is a dead one".'

So, he has got it wrong, has he?

The same blog informs us that:

“UEFA also fined the Greek Football Federation (EPO) 100,000 Swiss francs ($83,250) after incidents at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium during the 4-1 defeat by Turkey, which involved fireworks and missiles being thrown, racist banners displayed and a general lack of organization.”

It seems that UEFA also misunderstands this supposedly charming little folk saying which we are told is being misinterpreted and is not at all an incitement to genocide. Silly UEFA!

What's your point?

The slogan expresses an inherent belief that turks are bad. You might be shocked to learn that this is the most positive thing a large number of Greeks can say about turks. You don't blame a cancer patient for saying: "a good cancerous cell is a dead cancerous cell" do you? How is this any different?

When Byron says

"Most fools here do not understand the Greek language, the slogan does not say death to the TURKS which most members believe it to mean."

he is wrong, that is my point; and you have helped to make it most succinctly. Thank you.

Quite simply, the slogan does not say "death to turks". Any assertion to the contrary is misinformed or dishonest.

This is what it implies, though. Even so, to quote your own words it "expresses an inherent belief that turks are bad" and as such is racist.

GR , true to form , the American hater has come to the defense of the disgusting slogan in question , there again he is by far the biggest Plonker . He supports the Taleban that yesterday the Pakistani commander in charge of operations against this evil referred to them as savages , a description that I used many many times.
Look at GR's credentials." WAR AGAINST TURKEY IS THE ONLY OPTION "
"WE CAN STRIKE DEEP INTO SOUTHERN TURKEY " THE ONLY WAY TO LIBERATE OUR LANDS IS BY BLOODSHED "
SHOULD AN AGREED SOLUTION BE FOUND THAT DOES NOT MEET WITH MY APPROVAL I WIIL START A REVOLUTION WITH 15 MATE "
WE CAN ENLIST THE HELP OF THE AMERICAN MERCENARIES , BLACKWATER"
"IF NEED BE WE SHALL USE SUICIDE BOMBERS "
Yes, all the above are what this Plonker believes in !!! Saw his photo too , what an ugly sod !!!
No wonder he dont want to meet me the coward !

Miltiades, I happen to have studied in the States, and with a scholarship from the university itself -that is "American" money, yet I do not maintain this hallucinating love-affair with anything and everything American. I suggest you put aside this mono-manic and blind pro-Americanism, as you sound more royalist than the king himself, and consequently pretentious and shallow!

It's true that the invading Turks did not bring many of their women with them (can't blame them), so they relied on the local female populations for their breeding. So those mothers, sisters and daughters that were raped by Turks in these 400 years are in fact YOUR ancestors. So it's actually YOUR mother you're talking about

best comeback of all times...

Just a quick appearance re Kifeas, think of it like a drive-by-shooting. Looking at all the racist posts from you Greeks rattled my cage hence my 2 cents worth.

Okay, point taken! Now, slowly-slowly go back to your cage, and leave this forum only to those that have a bit more than 2 cents of brain’s worth to offer.

Tούρκος καλός μόνο νεκρός implies nothing?

Tζαμες-μαβ καλός μόνο νεκρός - Ι'm not implying anything by that, by the way.

Now, why don't you do the honourable thing and ame st’ anathheman, like Paphitis and all the other foul-mouthed enemies of Cyprus?
