Some of the more veteran PC users may recall the days when Apple adopted the greedy and destructive closed-architecture approach; which basically meant that they’d take anyone to court who tried to manufacture anything Apple-compatible unless they had a royalty or something, that led them to bankruptcy (and I think it was Bill Gates who kept them afloat so as to defeat OS monopoly laws) while IBM compatibles adopted an open architecture which surged them into historic success.

Apples business model still includes greed and licensing as can be seen in there made for ipod symbol with it's royalties chip. Since when have MS not been about greed ,licensing and whoring there OS onto every conceivable hardware platform ? The Bill Gates thing is an exaggerated myth.

Didn't IBM's risc machines use the same processor as the MACs?

Yes until recently the mac platform used IBM powerpc chips. Risc vs Cisc is another debate along with the mhz myth. The mac vs pc debate is full of miss-information.

you could install whats known as a hackint0sh.. a mac operating system on the windows pc see if you like it..

i think apple are stupid they give ou a good phone then tell you what u can an dcant do with it with stupid excuses and rules... i fear the lap tops and pcs they are the same they sell you a prodect then tell you how to use it and dont let you use it to its full extent they limit you and its really stupid.. they could easily have the best phones and pcs out there but they refuse to

Svetlana (i assume perhaps incorrectly) would have many problems building and supporting a hackintosh as it seems a black art at the minute and strewn with pitfalls. Just cough up the extra cash that's the only real reason i can see ! People don't like mac's because they cannot afford them period. It's a false economy let me assure you. How much is your free time worth ? Those late nights fixing problems and recovering your system from it's partition.I along with millions of others can see no other downside.

Of course the flipside of the coin i admit says mac's are not for everyone.

Macs are for everyone in the UK, it pisses with rain all the time!
