As I understand it, the meaning behind such a maxim is this:

In life, or whilst living, the Turk is incapable of being good.

I don't think it advocates killing them (that is what Turks do, not someone who stands by the axiom) ... just understanding (kindly) that whilst they live, we should not expect goodness to come out of them.

Am I right?

Yeah, just says they are only good when they are dead. Nothing in there about killing them. Since when they are dead they can no longer harm anyone, as that is what they are famous for.

Greeks are good and Turks are bad......We can go even further and say that the Greeks are so good that they will tolerate Turks living amongst them and do not want them dead.......It seems we have the easier choice of who to keep alive....You have less to fear.....Why would we want to kill pure good? Stale mate.....No one wants to kill anybody. Does that make us all good????
