Despite all the past history with the British the people still make us welcome as guests and residents on their Island

The towns are safe and in the main free of crime

Contrary to popular belief we do not get ripped off by the Cypriots

We have the sophistication of the cities and the tranquility of the mountains (In one day if you like)

Chidren still in the main are growing up with respect for their elders and are taught to respect family values

Go in a bar or restaurant and you can always find someone to have a chat to

Rates for services are cheap and services generally good

No one minds if you linger for an hour over a cup of coffee

Fast food is nice and slow

Come on the rest of you expats lets show our appreciation for the people of Cyprus

I agree with all of the above, I don,t whinge though I worry there is a difference

Can I add that I love ALL the bakeries, and all the real tavernas, the stunning coastline here in he East especially Cavo Greco, the Troodos which never fails to take your breath away (especially when your driving up) I one day will find the chocolate factory up there  The insides of old cypriot houses the ones with double doors which takes you into a courtyard with a beautiful facade of the house facing you. The warmth of the Cypriot people who know you live here and know you love it too

Oh and the fact that before living in the UK we never grew our own veg, and fruit, here we do and OMG they have grown into giants  That maybe more luck than judgement on our part but the red soil has a lot to do with it and the sun of course.

All this outways the negatives and more IMHO. Plus after writing on this Forum for a little while I,m not being as ignored as I was, even if its an insult

Don,t wish to bring a sad note in but my friend is in Nicosia ICU after suffering a brain hemorrhage, this was three days before her wedding sadly the outcome looks poor BUT her fiance told me last night that the care and attention she has recieved is absolutely faultless they have done all that can be done  He is in deep shock BUT after he has taken her back to UK he will return to live just as they wanted to :( Because he feels 'indebted to Cyprus' his words.

Paradise is right here on Sweet Sunny Cyprus . The last time I went anywhere else , apart from one or two business trips , for a holiday was in 1987 , USA for a couple of weeks.

I love the weather , the food the people and the blue skies the relaxed approach to life and the social events where you get to see relations you haven't come across for years. Hate Hotel type weddings and of course detest dangerous stupid driving and noisy cars with double barrel exhausts the size of a cannon. !!

Limassol is for me the ideal location , has every thing to offer and have watched it over the years improving and becoming much more attractive as a seaside town. Paphos of course is my favourite of them all and Stroumbi the Great unquestionably the most ..robust village in Cyprus !!!

Planning to buy an apartment in Polis and will view a few on my next visit , I was very impressed with Polis when I last visited and had lunch right on the beach , cant wait for the next time , that incidentally was the first time I met Oracle , she did not meet me of course , didn't want to interrupt her ongoing activities at the time , tending to her hair !! I sneakily took a photo of her , here it is.

Thanks Oracle, I hope so to, he is in a very deep shock, but all have been so kind. We shall know soon after another scan.

GR, sorry to ruin your day perhaps I should,nt have posted but sometimes talking to strangers, virtual ones that is, does help.

My reason though was to say that even at the worst possible times in your life Cyprus comes up trumps.
