This does not mean I'm not safe. It means I have adapted to the present road and traffic conditions and drive accordingly.

See, that's the whole problem. If you drive more aggressively, that threatens the drivers around you just as much as they threaten your driving safety. It also threatens the passengers in your car.

Yes, it does make you an unsafe driver. You can't blame it on the environment - the responsibility for your driving lies with you, and no one else.

You know, recently I watched a program on TV where a famous Aussie comedian went to the US and started making fun at good old fashioned American Inteligentsia. About 60% of Americans didn't even know the capital of Canada.

New to Cyprus, can you please explain to me why Americans are so stupid? :?

Why change the subject? You don't want to discuss your personal responsibility over your own driving???

what i hate is hwo a lot of peopel just cant park to save their lives and they take up two spaces and if they had jus tparked right you would of been able to park and then u run round trying to park, or when they blatantly just block you in and part so stupidly..

and some cant be botherd to turnt heir indicators off i was coming into a main road and the guy was indicating he is turning left in the road i was coming out of so i pull out slowly and he starts beeping i mean WTF u IDIOT why are u indicating?!?!?!?

i mean most people here just shouldent be driving passing red lights like its ok because its "safe" to..

in all my years of driving i have had only a few minor accidents but im not stupid like so many of the drivers here i am ver carefull

Why does everybody get so aggressive? It does not matter a damn what your nationality is ,or your culture, or where you live, whether you personally perceive some body as a good, bad or indifferent driver comes down to the answer to one simple question:

‘Would I feel content to watch the people I love, drive away in a car with this person at the controls?’

Reading some of the comments I am glad that Cyprus airways pilots don’t have the same attitude as some of the contributors. When I go up, I like to come down again........................gently! The same when I go out in a car..............but there again that’s only my personal preference.

What nationality I am is irrelevant. Every body is an individual and sees things by different criteria. The primary criteria for me, is self preservation for me and mine. If somebody wants to jump the red light that is their choice, I just make well sure that they don’t take me with them if they happen to ‘misjudge’ the situation. In Cyprus I drive as I always do no matter where I am and I have driven in some pretty scary places.......I think the description is ‘defensively?

Must be doing some thing right as, so far, I have managed to avoid having an accident.

Welcome to CF mate/matess.

Yes, this word "defensively" sprung to my mind yesterday.

Such simple basic things as leaving a good gap to the car in front,
throttle control to leave a similar distance to the car behind, over-taking quickly and cleanly and when you do over-take glimpses at their front
wheel lest they do something silly, position on the road so as not be directly behind someone, a few inches to the right so as to see traffic in the distance, anticipating the unexpected by having a get out of trouble position on the road - but all done with confidence.

Sometimes think that car-on-car accidents need two bad drivers.

Everyone in the UK wears a seatbelt. They also leave their little babies at shopping centres or at somebodies door step because they can't cope, but at least they properly restrain the baby in a baby seat on the way to its dumping ground...

How awful Cyprus must be for you! :(

You'd prefer to pretend that drivers in UK aren't far safer and Cypriots drive just fine then?

The UK has far better road conditions than Cyprus and that is all there is to it.

The reason why you are complaining is probably due to your lack of driving skill and ability to adapt to our traffic and road conditions.

Cypriots drive the way they do because it is a necessity for survival. If I was driving in Italy, I would not be driving like I do in Australia, because if I did I would be getting nowhere. I would drive more aggressively, probably push my way in when changing lanes etc.

This does not mean I'm not safe. It means I have adapted to the present road and traffic conditions and drive accordingly.

Cyprus is not the UK, and never will be, so get use to it or leave...

What are you talking about RE !! How many days or rather how many hours have spent behind the wheel on Cyprus roads , lets see during the last 15 years you visited Cyprus twice if I'm not mistaken , so you are an expert on Cypriot drivers are you !!!
Listen mate , Cyprus drivers , most of them , are not only a danger to themselves but to others too , their road sense is abysmal and their impatience behind the wheel is frightening !!
