Have been driving since 1971 when I passed my test , that's 38 years without an accident or causing an accident. I learned from early on to respect other road users and drive with due care and attention. Have passed this down to my son and daughter who thankfully both are responsible drivers. My son drives some of the fastest cars around , mostly Italian and mostly rather expensive . I'm rather more traditional with my car choice at my age .
I never drink and drive so my evening driving is non existent.
Really my dear Milti, I am so surprised, leaving aside the near accident in Lim, that you are attacking this important part of Cy culture. What seems to us in the West as poor driving is in reality a very real reflection of the whole Cy culture. An attack on Cy driving is an attack on the whole of Cy culture (both comms).
We should be celebrating the poor driving standards for there is still a small corner of Europe where the Irreverent Anarchic Cypriot can stick two fingers to the rule book, can tell the traffic wardens to stuff it, ignore the red lights and state-imposed speed limits.
Put your foot down on the gas and celebrate it please Milti, cos when it's gone, you'll miss it for another someyhing that sets cys apart from ordinary Europeans will have gone.

I think Milti will not rest until he turns our beloved Cyprus into another UK, where political correctness rules the roost, and where every small detail in peoples lives is structured and planned at the expense of our unique Cypriot culture and individualism.

As a women brit living in my own piece of heaven here in Cyprus, I am going to try to say without criticism that the women drivers of Cyprus are a big worry.
Yetserday I saw a young Mum take her two beautiful young boys off to school both sitting in the front seat without a belt , worse was she was belted in. I wanted to say 'no don,t' but I did,nt
The high rate of deaths on the roads in Cyprus are mainly under 25,s this is tragic and a loss of young people so needlessly, as just a much tougher police force and long driving bans when laws are ignored could change things swiftly.
My serious car accident in the UK was caused by black ice on the road dangers like that you don,t have here, just IMHO a police force that does,nt enforce driving laws already in place.
But I have become a better driver here as I have to be much more aware of the unexpected. One more thing is in the UK there are many many angry drivers because of 'bad driving techniques' endless congestion etc and road rage is a nasty element of this. That has never happened to me here and hopefully never will. Its actually a pleasure to drive on the motorways in Cyprus as they are so congestion free away from the big towns.
Saving lives by enforcing driving laws does NOT have to change any culture and should,nt.

We are talking about saving lives , we are talking about good safe driving what on earth are you on about mate .
What is "politically correct" in driving sensibly . May I also severely reprimand you for daring to include stupid f ng driving and mounting pavements killing people as "our Cypriot" culture !!!!!!
What is individualistic about fitting double barrel bloody exhausts on your car and creating as much noise as possible at 4 am in the morning while driving at 100 miles an hour !!
The Cypriot drivers are not exercising their right to their ""unique culture" but are interfering with my unique Cypriot culture of Cypriot civilization , consideration for other ANTHROPIA KE FILOTIMO.
