http://elliott.www9.50megs.com/CYPRUS/larnaca.htmFor an idea of scale - the runway at LCA is 3000m by 45m, so by my reckoning
LCA is built on over 10,000,000 square meters of land....and the Wiki on LCA confirms the use of the site as an airfield by GB from the 1930's
"...Larnaca Airport was hastily developed towards the end of 1974 after the invasion of Cyprus by Turkey on 20 July of the same year, which forced the closure of Nicosia International Airport. The site on which it was built (near the Larnaca Salt Lake), had been previously used as an airfield in the 1930s and, subsequently, as a military installation by the British force..."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larnaca_In ... al_AirportSo LCA
built on "tc" land = propagandist pollocks.
A small part of it = undeniably correct
A tiny or large part don't matter. Oram's villa was built on some part of Meletis' land... so what? TC owner has every right to claim as Meletis has.
You and others Insan, on this forum and elsewhere, make the foul, lying propagandist claim that LCA is built on what was "tc" land when only a very small part was,
You have been shown again to be propagandist, partitionist, porky tellers. If you can't face the facts and the truth on this LCA affair and persist with your thieving, lying ways when you can be so clearly and easily shown to be shutting your eyes to the truth, to be propagandist liers, then you have no chance of being taken seriously and HONOURABLY in other matters.
This is why it matters.
It!s ur miscomprehension Bill. Has anyone ever given the detail that Oram's villa was built on a part of Meletis' land? No. If u consider us as propagandist bcz we didn't mention LCA built on a part of TC land; plz define all other who didn't mention that Oram's villa built on a part of Meletis' land. And this is what matters to me.
It's
Apostolides's land reh. ...
..and I know it belongs to Mr A, all of it, 100% of it, not because of some dubious, partitionist, propagandist, lying, claim, I know it cos the Nicosia District Court, The GB High Court and The European Court of Justice makes it a
FACT .
It's just a part of Apostolides' land reh gumbare. Other parts of Apostollides' land weren't sold. Moreover, what's the difference of selling "stolen" land to a foreigner and building roads, airports on it? In my opinion there r no differences. Both r ancestral lands of the real owners.
It's u that still exerting to spread ur propaganda by ignoring the facts. Get conscious reh Biollaga.
Reh Insan, you're probably a very nice chap/chapess and I look forward to you buying me a beer on one of your visits to Free Larnaca to make it up to me for your lying ways.
In the meantime reflect on this. As you well know, where-ever you go in the world, governments will take over individual land ownings by means of compulsory purchase in order to build major infrastructure projects such as airports and roads. They do not however steal thousands of square miles from 10,000's individual land-owners, make out dodgy kochans and sell other people's lands to third parties. There's your difference but I'm pretty sure you already knew that.
Reh Bill, every action should be evaluated in their own circumstances. Selling a tiny portion of land belongs to a GC, in North arise from 35 years of unresolved Cyprus problem and rather economic sanctions on TC community.
In 1975, Bi-zonality was accepted under the then hostile circumstances, besides the solution of the Cyprus problem based on a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation.
This means, some 1/3 of properties belong to GC refugees wouldn't be able to return their homes as a compromise to preserve bi-zonality. In the last 35 years even not that long ago, just a tiny portion of land belongs to GC land owners was sold to foreigners.
TRNC authorities consider the sale of land belongs to GCs in this frame. There's no ill-intention.
However, it is a cyrstal clear fact that GC leadership has never genuinely accepted bi-zonality neither bi-communality or political equality. In the last 35 years they kept pursuing the same political stance to make TC community an ineffective muslim minority in Cyprus. U too have the same mentality. "TC", eh?
As for buying a beer for u in the so-called free Larnaca, why not... We can have good relations and socialise, no matter the divergences we have. I don't like using foul language but if u use, i'll be urged to respond same way...
