I would have thought.

Probably they are now seeking to avoid the two legs and fly direct.

As far as I know, the plane lands in Turkey and then takes off again, this time on a flight with another number.

I call it the "Midnight Express".!

If CTA is not careful, once the ECJ ruling has cleared the UK courts, they may become on a "hit list" for individuals and companies trespassing on GC land that the Ercan airport is built on. If they do not pay the fines, then it will be easy to confiscate the planes upon landing on any of the EU's other 26 member states by the actions of the courts.!

You land in the South mate and make sure you kiss the ground because it is built on TC land and when you lift your lips off the ground be sure to wipe the TC blood from your lips

Ansd you've got the cheek to demonise your own people for flying to their own country!!

Oh no, not the LCA pollocks again.

Which "tc" owned the hundreds of donums that LCA is built on Zan?

If you are going to answer like a child then I will help you......In the same vein....The TRNC is built on mant peoples land so with your childish mentality we need not worry about them either. Deal...You keep the land that is part of the airport and we will keep the land that is part of the TRNC.

Either the same importance is applied to TC land or the same dismissal..You have been living in my country far too long old chap, albeit in the South. You have learned the double talk really well....

Zan - you little fibber you, back to your little old porky telling ways so quickly. You naughty, naughty little Zanoui. You little cry-baby you.

Enough of the small talk. Come along little Zanny. Stop sulking, grow up and tell us, .........

HOW MUCH OF THE THOUSANDS OF DONUMS THAT LCA IS BUILT ON WAS "TC" LAND?

(give you a little help - look up posts by GR and Paphitis above)

@VP, if the "tc" chap who owns the tiny part, in the corner by the fence feels hard done by and he/she is justified in their claim then I wish them every success at the ECHR. Really I do.

Charlui baby, last time I read about that, RoC had offered the owner 20,000 pounds and the owner asked for 100 million pounds, so it must be a substantial part of it. Surely one of our GC honest forumers can settle this by checking in the land registry to see how much of the airport land is TC owned.

Our dear Freddie, Paphitis has already told us that (pre '60? ) Much of the present day LCA was a GB airfield and GR tells us that he has seen the maps and that the "tc" land in question was a small part. I am sure you'll agree that both of these fine gentlemen are honest forumers.

In any event, as Zan has made the contentious claim he should put up the evidence to back it up.

(reh Fredopsaroboulla, aman se tho, tha we klotsisso, mesta kochania.

Until GR provides credible evidence, what he says is 'hearsay' We would love to see his credible evidence. Can you please ask him?

At least you believe the fact that LCA was mostly built on land that was formerly a RAF Airfield built in the 1930s...

Or is that hearsay as well? :?

....and the land they built in on was brought with them from blighty in 1878?

How do u know that TC land is tiny? The land owner or thieves told ya?

Easy, I read the details when the story was out and you didn't.

Btw, I even found the lot number but I didn't save it.

Reh Unkie, this would be one for your myth buster site. I really do get pussed off by this LCA pollocks myth.

I know, but they do take up so much of my time and I've got so much other shit to do most days. :?

GR, had you any evidence re: the ownership of the lands on which Larnaca airport was built, it would have been the icing on the cake for you. 'You didnt save the lot number'? You can do better than that GR.

Why don't you get of your lazy but and a bit of your own research.

You will then come to realize that LCA was formerly a RAF Airfield built in the 1930s. if you drive around the perimeter, something I have done, you will notice that most of the airport perimeter fencing is what was originally built by the RAF in WW11.
.

My lazy butt?

GR said he had it and did not record it. I ask him to give us the icing on the cake. He knew where he found it, its up to him to support his above statement and not me. I am making no claims here.

There you go again! Weaving and turning, but in your case I guess it would be twirling....

Deniz, I am particularly annoyed when people make claims for which there is not one shread of evidence (re TC claim that LCA is TC land and not GR!s claim). I don't know how much of LCA was formerly TC owned, but what I do know is that it was only a tiny portion of what is LCA today, as the airport was formerly a RAF Airfield built in the 1930s. So GR! is not far off track at all.

Please don't tell me to provide a link, because you can easily look it up yourself on the internet.

It was probably stolen GC land.

Deniz, I am really shocked at this very silly post.

What are you saying? That in 1878, all of Cyprus was Turkish. Fine! Have it your way. In 1570, all of Cyprus was Greek, so piss off!

Then speak in plain English, because you mentioned something about 1878. Your post remains unclear and maybe you can explain yourself a little clearer.

Bilmukabil to you too!

Owner of the Larnaka airport land has filed a court case in 2005 .In those days how the news was came .........

TURKISH CYPRIOTS WHOSE LAND WERE "EXPROPRIETED" TO BUILT LARNAKA AIRPORT START A LEGAL STRUGGLE

As a result of the property cases filed by the Greek Cypriots, who left property in the North, against the Turkish Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots have also started to file charges for their properties left in the South.

Legal varicoses of the late Ayten Ali Sütcü, are preparing to start a legal struggle against the Greek Cypriot administration on grounds that 145 000 square meters of the land, where the Larnaka Airport was built, were "expropriated" by the Greek Cypriot administration without asking their permission and with a very low price and that this money was not paid to them.

The son of Ayten Ali Sütcü Dr. Behlül Sütcü stated that besides this land, where Larnaka Airport was built, his mother had another 9000 square meters land and this land was also expropriated to built school. Dr. Sütcü pointing out that the Turkish land were expropriated with a very low price said their aim was to capture the Turkish Lands with a very low prices. He said the Greek Cypriots also built a road into one of their relatives’ land and did not pay the money because they say the money would be paid after a settlement.

Calling upon everyone in similar situation to act together Dr. Behlül Sütcü said "we will never give up our legal rights. We will also demand the cost for the use of our property since 1974."

Turkish Cypriot Huseyin Helvacıoglu, stating that one part of Larnaka Airport was also on his land, claimed 100 million Cyprus Pound compensation from the Greek Cypriot administration and also the restitution of his remaining land.

I am sure the guy will be compensated in accordance with market value prices at the date of expropriation back in 1974. There is nothing unusual about this as this is what normally happens.

The state can not expropriate land, and the former owner claim market value 35 years down the track. Things don't work like that.

And by the way, 145,000sqm is just under 140 quarter acre blocks or enough land to build about 140 houses by Australian standards where block sizes are normally quite large.

Airports can not be built on 140 standard sized Aussie Plots and so it is now proven that the the land expropriated is only a tiny corner of LCA.

The TC in question should accept the 20,000 pounds in compensation as this would be deemed overly generous in 1974 market value terms, and as we all know, any land right next to an international airport is worth next to nothing anyway.

I wish the Gentleman good luck, but I do hope the RoC actually doubles the level of compensation to 40,000 pounds as a gesture of good will..... :D

This is a plan of LCA from a planespotter's site..

http://elliott.www9.50megs.com/CYPRUS/larnaca.htm

Image

For an idea of scale - the runway at LCA is 3000m by 45m, so by my reckoning LCA is built on over 10,000,000 square meters of land.

...and the Wiki on LCA confirms the use of the site as an airfield by GB from the 1930's

"...Larnaca Airport was hastily developed towards the end of 1974 after the invasion of Cyprus by Turkey on 20 July of the same year, which forced the closure of Nicosia International Airport. The site on which it was built (near the Larnaca Salt Lake), had been previously used as an airfield in the 1930s and, subsequently, as a military installation by the British force..."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larnaca_In ... al_Airport

So LCA
built on "tc" land = propagandist pollocks.
A small part of it = undeniably correct

A tiny or large part don't matter. Oram's villa was built on some part of Meletis' land... so what? TC owner has every right on his land to claim as Meletis has.

You and others Insan, on this forum and elsewhere, make the foul, lying propagandist claim that LCA is built on what was "tc" land when only a very small part was,

You have been shown again to be propagandist, partitionist, porky tellers. If you can't face the facts and the truth on this LCA affair and persist with your thieving, lying ways when you can be so clearly and easily shown to be shutting your eyes to the truth, to be propagandist liers, then you have no chance of being taken seriously and HONOURABLY in other matters.

This is why it matters.
