Maybe they were living off the credit they now have to pay back!
Easy to blame high prices in Cyprus just because everyone in the UK is feeling the pinch for their ill-advised spending sprees over the last decade or more.
O , Cyprus is extremely expensive to Brits , partly because of the strong euro and mainly because prices in Cyprus have been allowed to escalate without any government intervention. Im a business man , have my own business and on average travel to Cyprus 6-7 times a year. I'm not rich and neither am i poor , but most certainly I would not pay almost 8 euros for a 200 grm of nescafe that I buy in the UK for £3 or Euro 3.30 less than half price , now this highly inflated price can not be because of either customs duty or importing restrictions . Who makes a killing here.
Prices of locally produced cheeses , Lountza , hiromeri , olive oil have shot up to levels that makes olive oil in Cyprus much more expensive than anywhere else. Prices on some household necessities are in some cases three times as much as the UK. I compare the UK because the Cypriot economy is heavily dependent on UK investments tourism etc.
The absolute nonsense you post ie "ill- advised spending sprees " have absolutely nothing to do with prices being extravant in Paphos.
They are only moaning now because they can't afford Cyprus any more.
Tough! Why should Cyprus down-shift so that the penniless can still enjoy their cheap moments in the sun!
