If any new plan goes to referendum that does not clearly divide Cyprus int two regions then I do not believe the TC's will accept it. Not after AnnanV. Expectations are very high.

TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the restoration work at the Apostolos Andres Monastery will start soon.

President Talat made the comments during a visit to the area where he also informed villagers of Dipkarpaz, Yenierenkoy and Ziyamet area of the progress taking place at the Cyprus talks.

Speaking with the villagers of the Dipkarpaz Area, the President said that restoration work of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery had not taken place due to disagreements between the Greek Cypriot administration and the Greek Cypriot Orthodox Church.

‘In some Greek Cypriot papers they claimed that the Turkish Cypriot side had prevented restoration work from beginning. This is not true we only wanted a few months so we could move the people who are living in the area so they don’t get disrupted by the work that will be taking place.

That’s the actual real reason behind my visit’, said President Talat.

referring to the latest development that have taken place on the Cyprus issue, President Talat said ‘if we can begin the give and take period as of the end of summer, then we will get good results’.

He also expressed his view that it would be better for the solution plan of the Cyprus issue to be put to a referendum before the end of his term in office.

‘Who ever started the process should finish it. We are progressing at the speed we desired at the negotiations’, added Talat.

Referring to the issue of opening a border crossing at the Yesilirmak village President Talat noted that from the very beginning the Turkish Cypriot side had been asking for 2 things.

‘Firstly we asked for the free movement to and from Erenkoy and secondly for the free movement of fuel to the area. These issues are still continuing to be discussed’, he added.

Why does this artlicle not say that the free flow of fuel is meant for an army base in Kokkina?

Seconed one is not that much important DT.......They can carry the fuel via sea again for the army ........

I know some people wants to return back to their homes and they want to repair their homes again . First part is very important they will have connection with TRNC . As u know ............
