Hi

Comming over to Cy next few weeks, can any one tell me;

1. which is the cheapest way to get UK channels in Cy?....do Digital boxes work ok if bought from UK?

2. Which is best wway to get cheapest internet if I bring laptop....currently dont have phone socket in apt?

Any useful replies are appreciated!

No Im not "worried" about British TV........just wanted a sensible answer really to a normal question.

Yes digiboxes and sky plus boxes and freesat(not freeview) boxes work in Cyprus. If you want just the free channels(bbc,itv ch4 and five etc) you will need a minimum 3 metre dish,depending on where in Cyprus you will live.
There are other satellite options,with English speaking content,mainly American based with some programs from UK mixed in ,which you will have to pay a subscription and some that are free.

You could try Nilesat - quite a few English speaking channels although most have Arabic subtitles. Free to view, 1 metre dish. Fully installed for 300 euros or less.

Without phone line you are missing on all the cheapest broadband internet options except if you live in one of the few areas covered by Cablenet (mostly in Nicosia). Otherwise the only options for internet that you have will be expensive. 3G Mobile Broadband or Satellite. In a few areas maybe you can also get Wi-Fi. It all depends where you live.

Is it a socket you don't have or a telephone line? Which are is the appartment in?
