For someone associated with a nation whose only natural resouce is olive oil and the potato, I am surprised you have a problem with this as it is in Cyprus' interest that energy is secured.

Cyprus does not even have enough water for its population let alone gas and oil, all of which must be imported.

Lets hope the oil exploration off Cyprus comes to some fruition - but not even that is going to last for ever.

How can you say that the Afghans will never be defeated, when the Taliban has ripped out the very soul of this nation - they had been defeated from within.

Me Ed , over the years I challenged GR's Americanphobia on numerous occasions.
The guy is inflicted with a decease commonly known amongst Greek losers as AMERICANIKODACHTILOSIS . Everything American GR finds repugnant , he adores Bin Laden and his terrorist organization Al Qaeda , if Cyprus was full of GRs I would be an extremely unhappy man , however I'm pleased to note that many Cypriots appear to recognize the efforts of the Cypriot lobby in the USA as well as the fact that although a tremendous amount of pressure has been put on America by a very important ally , Turkey , America has refused to give in and recognize the "trnc"
Many Cypriots blame America for all of our problems. The fact that the bloody extremists encouraged by the Greek Junta were ENTIRELY responsible for our inviting Turkey to invade in 1974 doesn't enter into their logic.
The pathological hatred as exhibited by this Plonker GR is shared by many of our compatriots .

Thanks Miltiades,

When it comes to hatred and extremism, all objectivity flies out of the window.

I was in Cyprus in when the US invaded Iraq the first time round and my cousin was actually convinced that Iraq would win - I soon put him straight on that one.

There is so much inbred hatred for America is almost at the level that exists in most of the M.E countries.
The children are conditioned from an early age to detest America and blame all our ills on the USA.
No reference is ever made to the great achievements of America , not least its contribution to science and in particular medicine.
Little is taught at school about Americas role in the 2nd WW and hardly anyone knows of the Marshall plan and the contribution it made towards rebuilding a war ravished Europe and in repelling communism .

That's because it was Ali-Ba-Ba who provided the aid.

US Aiding and Abetting Israeli War Crimes

"Months after Operation Cast Lead, countless questions about the conduct of the IDF and the weapons used in Gaza remain unanswered. Gathering incontrovertible evidence and making solid conclusions is a critical part of post-conflict reconstruction. But given the kind of investigations that have been carried out thus far, that sort of closure seems out of reach for the people of Gaza.
The IDF carried out five of its own investigations, concluding that it “operated in accordance with international law” and that the small number of questionable incidents that did occur were “unavoidable and occur in all combat situations.”
HRW deems these investigations “not credible” and has called on the Israeli government to cooperate with a comprehensive UN investigation led by the former chief prosecutor of the international war crimes tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, Richard Goldstone. Thus far, Israel has opted not to participate.
And the United States—Israel’s closest ally and largest supporter—has refused to push Israel to cooperate. It seems the “moral twilight zone” extends beyond Gaza, all the way to Washington."

The only wrongdoing in Cast Lead is that it ended too soon.

The shame of the US knows no bounds…

Not only is an “election” setup by a sovereign nation’s invader and occupier, in complete violation of international law, but the world’s most disgraceful nuisance to humanity, responsible for the death of 1.5 million people in Iraq, the arch-war criminals of war criminals, are now openly engaging in electoral fraud when the puppet-election results don’t suit them!

US Copter Loses Ballot Boxes as Afghan Vote Count Moves Slowly Forward

“As the count for Afghanistan’s hotly disputed election trudges along at a snail’s pace, a bit of excitement happened when the US military admitted that it had misplaced 25 ballot boxes it was shipping from Paroon to Kabul. Actually it didn’t so much misplace them as it dropped them, off a helicopter, into what officials are describing as “the rugged mountains of Nuristan.”

The votes in the missing ballot boxes were already counted and added to the national tally. Fifteen of the missing boxes were retrieved. Karzai and Abdullah are still "neck 'n neck."

That some of these ballots were later recovered doesn’t soften the blow of an attempted electoral fraud.
