Torture Orders Were Part of US Sectarian War Strategy

The revelation by WikiLeaks of a U.S. military order directing U.S. forces not to investigate cases of torture of detainees by Iraqis has been treated in news reports as yet another case of lack of concern by the U.S. military about detainee abuse.

But the deeper significance of the order, which has been missed by the news media, is that it was part of a larger U.S. strategy of exploiting Shi’a sectarian hatred against Sunnis to help suppress the Sunni insurgency when Sunnis had rejected the U.S. war.

For first time ever, US facing scrutiny of UN Human Rights Council

The United States will come under the spotlight at the UN's top human rights assembly's for the first time over the coming week along with other countries that face scrutiny by the Human Rights Council.

The 12-day session of the 47 member council starting on Monday will include regular "universal periodic reviews" of 16 members of the United Nations, including the United States on November 5.

Several dozen non governmental organisation are expected to lobby the debate on the US human rights record, while Washington will also defend its record.

miltiades, you are priceless.

You open up your response with ignorant comments THEN, you prove your ignorance by mentioning 'SUITS', which proves that you lack the intelligence to realize that the story about them was merely an introduction to an account of the political sham which followed it.

I REALLY advise you to READ that which is written before gnashing your teeth and growling obscenities, bad for the old ticker at your age mate.

Bush a Big Fan of Obama’s War in Afghanistan

Though President Obama made much of criticizing President Bush’s foreign policy and his commitments to endless and unwinnable wars during the 2008 campaign season, once elected he seamlessly segued into continuing the Bush policies and even escalating the war in Afghanistan dramatically twice in his first year in office.

Of course neither of those escalations in Afghanistan, now decidedly “Obama’s War,” have accomplished anything good, the situation has continued to worsen with record death tolls. But at least someone is happy: his predecessor, George W. Bush.

US suspected of illegal spying in Denmark

As reports surface in Sweden and Norway, suspicion of similar activity arises in Denmark

Both Norway and Sweden have accused the United States of conducting illegal spying operations in their countries, and some Danish officials believe it may have been happening in Denmark as well.

One of them, Hans Jørgen Bonnichsen, the former national commissioner of the Danish Police, has told Politiken newspaper that if the claims are true, “there are definitely illegal intelligence activities taking place in Denmark”.
