Thank God for the Whistle-Blowers

What WikiLeaks did was brilliant journalism, and the bleating critics from the president on down are revealing just how low a regard they have for the truth. As with Richard Nixon’s rage against the publication of the Pentagon Papers, our leaders are troubled not by the prospect of these revelations endangering troops but rather endangering their own political careers. It is our president who unnecessarily sacrifices the lives of our soldiers and not those in the press who let the public in on the folly of the mission itself.

US Outraged as Iran Offers to Replace Military Aid to Lebanon

The US State Department has reacted with outrage today after the Iranian government offered to provide military aid to Lebanon to make up for what was lost when the US pulled all such aid yesterday.

Incredibly enough, State Department spokesman Philip Crowley suggested that Iran’s military aid would “compromise Lebanon’s sovereignty,” yet no similar concerns were voiced when the US was providing much larger amounts of aid to the exact same country.

What They Do in Our Name

Thanks to Wikileaks and heroic leakers inside the military, we now know the U.S. government has killed many more innocent Afghan civilians than we were aware of heretofore. We also know that American military and intelligence personnel roam Afghanistan assassinating suspected bad guys. Sometimes they kill people they later acknowledge weren’t bad guys at all. “Bad guys,” like “Taliban,” is implicitly defined as anyone who resists the U.S. occupation force and the corrupt puppet government it keeps in power.

What other atrocities are our misleaders and misrepresentatives committing in our name?

Khadr’s ‘Trial’ Begins Amid UN Condemnation

Canadian citizen and longtime Gitmo detainee Omar Khadr’s “trial” began earlier today with jury selection, as the military personnel selected as potential jurors were considered by the defense and prosecutor.

The trial comes amid considerable international scrutiny, and a public condemnation from a top UN representative who warned that it set a dangerous precedent for the treatment of child soldiers in future wars.

Khadr has been in US custody since he was 15 years old, and is accused of throwing a hand grenade which, while not generally considered a “war crime” has him liable to spend the rest of his life in a US military prison.

So much for the "black Jesus"

Turns out to be another Wall St. white blood sucker of the planet, with a few decent changes in internal politics and that's about it.

Some say Kennedy was the last truly elected president of the US, and everyone to com after, just servants of the white ruling class such as the Rockefeller.

So much for "rebuilding Iraq"!

US wants Iraq to pay bill for war victims

US wants Iraq to take over aid for victims of American combat operations

US Judge: OK to extract confessions by threatening suspects with rape

In one of the first military commissions held under the Obama administration, a US military judge has ruled that confessions obtained by threatening the subject with rape are admissible in court.

The case involves Omar Ahmed Khadr, a citizen of Canada who was apprehended in Afghanistan when he was 15 years old and has remained in Guantanamo Bay for the last seven years awaiting trial for terrorism and war crimes.

Dennis Kucinich Makes a Serious Push to Ban Govt. Assassinations of US Citizens

With Obama's extrajudicial killing policy, the government is the investigator, policeman, prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner all in one.

Military Suicides and Guilty Consciences

"American statists and imperialists are coming up with all sorts of explanations to explain the epidemic of suicides among U.S. military personnel. The most popular explanations are war stress and stress at home.

I’ve got another possible cause: guilt, arising from the wrongful killing of other human beings."
