Insane is when you assume that reporters doing their job (American or otherwise) justifies their country’s atrocities! :?

Now quit making a fool of yourself in here...

Justified? STFU you fool. I actually stated ... if you took the time to read my previous comment to you that "The rules of engagement were obviously not followed and I hope the families that suffered from this incident find justice."

…because those who watched the video didn’t see any “battle ground” but civilians in a residential area!

:(

OMG what has the world come to! :( They are behaving as though they are playing on some video game console.

That's War for you!

Shame that innocent Reuters Journalists got killed, but you would agree that the US Gunship made a very grave error and had mistaken those innocent bystander's camera gear for weapons.

In the end, these war correspondents know the risks they are taking by being in a War Zone, and soldiers know full well the dangers they face as well.

Yes War is disgusting! Even allied troops have been attacked by their own in 'friendly fire' incidents.

That's just the way it is!

GR! is insane for labeling this incident a War Crime!

No, I'm sorry Paphitis but I'm not convinced by your defence of them. Even if one man looked like he may have been carrying a gun (and I wasn't convinced of that either) the overriding message was that these troops were looking for excuses to kill. Surely just carrying a weapon doesn't make you a legitimate target. Maybe he had confiscated it from someone. Maybe he was going to shoot rabbits for dinner! Where's the logical doubt!

This is not excusable behaviour.

No, I think you disagree because you're an idealist. And that is very admirable!

Carrying a weapon does make you a target, as these very weapons are a threat, and could be used against them and other allied troops. As it turned out, these weapons (AK47s) were not weapons at all. The loss of life was unnecessary. Friendly fire incidents also claim life, and these losses are also unnecessary. And any fire fights that had occurred immediately prior to this incident would have been playing on the crew's mind.

But I can tell you that ALL soldiers, whether American, Australian or British are never looking to kill for the hell of it. They are not looking for an excuse to kill. On the contrary, all soldiers would love to never have to kill anyone. They live with it for the rest of their lives.

Paphiti, watch the tape.

"Oh Yeah! Look at all those dead bastards!"
"Nice!"

"Come on buddy...all you gotta do is pick up a weapon" (so they could fire again)

Come on!! Let us shoot!

"I think the guy just drove over a body"
"Really?"
"Yeah!" (laughs)

That mention of the azimuth limit though takes me back to studying gun ranges...

I did watch the tape, and the dialogue is not my cup of tea! That's Americans for you.

But they did clearly say:

"That's a weapon".
"yeah"

"Have individuals with weapons".

"He's got a weapon too".

"Have 5 to 6 individuals with AK47s".

Now DT, the Apache was called in as a result of ground troops sustaining enemy fire in the area. So tensions were already high.

Admittedly, to me, those items being carried didn't look like AK47s.

Normally, this material would be classified and would not have been released. Obviously, it was leaked. So I don't believe there is much of a case here.

Is the incident sad! Yes of course it is.

That's what you get when insurgents diguise themselves as civilians ...

Innocent people get caught in the metaphorical cross-fire.

You wouldn’t want that, believe me. If that were to occur....

In the next 2012 presidential elections, Obama will be replaced by a conservative President that will make Bush look like a peace activist.
