Talat and Christofias have held another meeting within the framework of the UN-led negotiation process.

The two leaders met around 10.00 o’clock to take up the issue of economy, which is the fourth chapter of the talks.

In a statement at the end of today’s meeting which lasted one-and-a-half hours, the UN Special Representative for Cyprus

Taye-Brook Zerihoun said that the two leaders started their discussions with a tete-a-tete meeting which continued for an hour.

He said that the next meeting between the leaders would be held next Thursday, the 21st of May when their aides – who would continue their talks until that date – would make a presentation on the economy chapter to them.

He also announced that the UN Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer will arrive in Cyprus tomorrow and that he will attend the next meeting to be held between the leaders.

President Talat told reporters on his return to the Presidential Palace that he will talk to the UN Envoy tomorrow afternoon.

Talat, opening of the Yeşilırmak Gate(Limnidis) was also discussed at today’s meeting and that there was no change in the Turkish Cypriot Side’s position over the issue.

Talat said''We see no problem with the opening of the Gate, in return for permission for crossings, except the transfer of ammunition, into Erenkoy”(KOKİNA)
