While I agree salespeople can be rude and just not very cheerful in Cyprus, I do not agree that it is anything but the same in the UK. You seem to live in excluded isolation in Windsor. Windsor is a tiny tourist-centered place, it's nice and peaceful but it is definetely not an example of the majority of the UK where I can assure you, cashiers are rude and a significant proportion of the kids are dangerous thugs. I am constantly reading about kids killing each other on the streets of London and its suburbs. Safe? I think not. If you live in Windsor, don't doubt for a second your kids are going to want to spend quite a lot of time in London.
If you are upset about the school, have you given some consideration as to perhaps it is not Cyprus but the particular school you chose that is not up to standard? There are many other private schools in Cyprus. Foley's in Limassol is particularly respected for its strict academic standards and discipline. It is British owned and run, if that makes it better for you.
Out of all the countries i've lived, I have no doubt in my mind that I will return to Cyprus one day and am very grateful for having been raised there. Cherish those memories, it was a wonderful time. I studied in a prestigious university after graduation and am doing very well professionally, as are many people who graduated from high school alongside me, most of whom have returned of their own free will (from the UK i might add).
Cyprus has many negative points don't get me wrong, but to move back because of a particular private school and the lack of fake smiles on cashiers faces, is quite petty.
I agree wholeheartedly !
Foley's in Limassol is indeed a very good school , my two children studied there for two years .
When I'm in Cyprus I consciously do as the Cypriots do , I never use the words that you often hear from " Charlies " Ah but in the UK we don't blah blah blah !
As for getting a smile from cashiers in Cyprus well if they are female and pretty , I always do , I just say give us a smile then , in Greek of course !!!
The best European nation to live in , would not change it for anything , alas I still live in the UK !!
