i beg your pardon! im a mum who has an irish mother and a cypriot dad! my dad hasnt lived here for over 40 years...connected! i dont think so. he hasnt been to cyprus for 5 years. we all have our opinions and in my opinion cyprus IS NOT the paradise that you think. The front page news in the cyprus mail recently read RIP OFF CYPRUS. You actually sound like you have a chip on your shoulder. we are a well adjusted happy threesome my kids and i. im very happy that your family have settled in. in the uk we live in a beautiful civilized safe environment. Incidently my dad instilled good things in us too! My children have a turkish cypriot father and there are still a few "narrow minded" cypriots who have a problem with that. before you accuse people of having chips on their shoulders..please go and read and define the word. I still love cyprus but as a holiday place. As for smiling sales assistants ..isnt it aboutbeing happy!

Miltiades.... incidently its not just about smiles from assitants. Isnt it about customer service. Anyway the reason i have decided to go back is because we all want the very best for our kids. In my opinion they wouldnt get it here. Its not all about the sun and the sea, its about installing values and respect in your children

best regards to you and your family and for future referance try not to label people who may have a different opinion to you. i am the most easy going, chip free :) person you could know

BTW I didn't do my homework is the answer. Where can I get the Keo please?

You may claim it at any Nicosia bar/restaurant

Just tell them to put it on GRs tab

You have your opinion and I have mine. The thousands of Brits and thousands of other Europeans who have settled in Cyprus are a testimony to Cyprus's quality of life.
I note your father hasn't been to Cyprus for 5 years !!!! Doesn't think much of Cyprus either , a chip of the old block no doubt !!
As for this little gem """installing values and respect in your children ""
which part of the UK do you come from. The UK kids are the rudest most illdesciplined most dangerous and rowdy in EUROPE. The term Hooligan is a British derivative. You do ofcourse have your middle classess , solid working classess and of course the bastard classess . Now tell me what values do you think are missing with Cypriot kids.
My wife , with whom I have shared my life for more than 45 years is English through and through.
Adores Cyprus and has spent considerable time staying in Cyprus with our family. She has never encountered the rudess that you have encountered , she has never felt unsafe and above all she always smiled politely at shop assistants never once did she adopt the attitude that I'm better than you , an attitude that you obviously adopted your self in dealing with the locals.
My daughter too who could not speak a word of Greek , she does now , has lived in Cyprus for over ten years . Problems? none ! She loves it !
Has a beautiful house , sends her daughter to G/C school , the boy goes to a G/C nursery ,she would never live in the UK . We live in Surrey .
Try again in a few years.
ps. Which part of Cyprus did you settle ? Does your husband feel the same way ?

Hi, We are living in Meneou next to Pervolia. Indeed very beautiful. I think you are missing the point. If it were just me and my partner we would stay. My kids come first and in my opinion going back to their private school in windsor is the best thing i can do for them. The fascilities there are much better for them as their headmistress here hastened to add was no comparison to a cypriot school.
where we live children are disciplined and respectful ...we dont all breed yobs. Cyprus youths arent perfect. I have cousins here who are spoilt brats, handed everything on their plate by their parents and have not such a good work ethic.

I agree that many parts of the uk are unsafe and yob ridden, the country has an open door system where people from all over the world abuse the benefits system, muggings, rapes etc

Maybe i was expecting too much from Cyprus. I have been coming here everyyear for 25 years. Cyprus was Paradise then but i see things here slipping. I am maybe too much of a perfectionist and want the best in everything , especially manners. I am not a stuck up middle class b..tch , i came from humble surroundings and worked damn hard to get where i am. nothing , nothing at all was handed to me by my parents as is the case here. When my sons are older they too will not be handed everything. I know i am doing the right thing bringing them back to windsor to study

Please chill out a bit... there is good and bad in both countries.
My partner is from The Lebanon and is happy if his family are happy.

What’s so beautiful about Meneou, or any of the other peasant villages in that region next to the airport? :?

Why is that? Do you want them to act and sound like that wimp Prince Andrew?

I guess you can say you’re demanding but perfectionists don’t ignore that many spelling mistakes like you have in your posts…

Anyway, I think your problem is that you’ve gone and moved in with the peasants of Larnaca and are wondering what went wrong...

As for kids education, you can only try and give them the very best start. p.s whats wrong with Prince Andrew? Hes my neighbour :)
