It is not.

The educational system in Cyprus needs to adapt to the demands of the 21st century, with emphasis in brainstorming approaches.

The educational approach is still old school, requiring students to simply memorize tons of stuff, instead of promoting critical thinking.

KURUPETOS thankyou for your reply. in my opinion there isnt that much structure and they are quite laid back... which may be good for some... my children are highly spirited boys and need both structure and discipline plus lots of motivation and nurturing

alexjames2 wrote:yes i did do my homework! im not a complete idiot! my dad is cypriot from troodos. this is my experience. i am in a very fortunate position but i thought that life would be much better for my young twins. how wrong can you be. several mums from med high said that although they love cyprus , given the opportunity they would privatley educate their kids in the uk. you say that my last email sounded like the uk. in sainsburys you always get a smile and good morning...well 9 times out of 10. in carrfour larnaca they really are a complete nightmare! i have been staying at the golden bay hotel in larnaca for six weeks every summer and my experience as a holiday maker was lovely.....will stick to hols ...now i have just got to ship all my furniture and my car back..!

I knew immediately I read your opening post that you are A "Cypriot connected person " !!!
Who gives you a smile in Salisbury's mate ??
I wonder why you found the Cypriots rude , cause I dont , and I have lived in UKeshtan for almost 50 years .
UK connected Cypriots have a major problem to deal with in coming to live in Cyprus , I call it a chip a big chip , luckily not all . My daughter , half English and half Cypriot settled in nicely , no chip , just a Cypriot dad who instilled in her that there are differences between the UK and Cyprus. So what if a sales assistant doesn't smile , and who in their right mind would want a smile from Salisbury's cashiers for god sake !!
Cyprus is paradise on earth , your twins would be in a safe civilized family orientated environment that they would have great difficulty finding in the UK.
I'm deliriously happy that my two grandchildren are growing up in Cyprus and I'm more than deliriously happy that they will both attend Cypriot schools , not private , but real Cypriot schools just as I did .
