Europe day concert hits a sour note

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Hey, we can all quote appropriate passages from the Gospels.... Here's one of my favourites:

Matthew 21:13

Of course it's best understood in the original 'Koine'.

"If you'd been a victim of serial invasion and occupation over centuries, maybe you'd think the same."
That may go some way to explaining why GC's seem to hate most people, then.

I remember the controversy and outrage engendered when the "Don't mention the war" episode of Fawlty Towers was first screened in the UK. This was about 30 years after hostilities had ended between the British and the Germans, and the two countries were at peace.
This is a universal phenomenon and I don't think too much should be read into it. The fact is that these Turkish musicians were able to play.
Even if the Cyprus problem is solved, one can expect hostile attitudes to linger for several decades.

Hey, I'm just giving you an insight into the mind-set. If you'd been a victim of serial invasion and occupation over centuries, maybe you'd think the same.

I won't hang my head in shame. There are plenty of foreigners who'd need to do that first before I will.
From the 'other forum', I know you to have a more balanced view, but surely Nikos Ioannou, should now be removed from the CSO.
So you are saying that the mindset is a hatred of a fellow man (be He Turk or not), simply because he wants to play music with others for peoples enjoyment?(Dont bother replying Oracle love, think we know your response).

I think the CSO were being a bit narrow minded and out of order. These guys from Turkey flew out to play in Cyprus and should have been treated better by the CSO (if whats been reported is true). Nobody said the current occupation by Turkey in Cyprus is acceptable and its not these musicians fault.

As with most journalism out of Cyprus, this article focused on the negative treatment received by the Turkish musicians but wonder if there was any positive that they failed to report on - especially the anti-Greek 'Cyprus Mail'.

Well, the leader of the orchestra was interviewed recently along with one of the Turkish Cypriot musicians in the orchestra on CyBC's Biz/Emeis television programme, and he was very positive about the message conveyed by having mainland Turkish musicians and musicians from other neighbouring countries perform.

The Greek Cypriots who had a problem with Turkish musicians are pathetic. But this constant attempt to paint a whole people as being this or that is ridiculous.
Look! A GC committed a crime, proof that GCs are all criminals.
Look a GC said he hated Turks, Proof that all GCs hates Turks.
We can't live together world, they'll hunt us down like dogs!!!

Banana Grower shows himself to be a racist in the same post he is accusing GCs as being racist.
Halil, I expect more of you, don't ask me why - 'what a cheap minded people'???

It's a psychotic mindset I'm afraid ttoli... like a post traumatic stress disorder - and I don't necessarily share it but I surely understand it. There is no hatred towards anyone who wishes to bring joy to the world, make no mistake. I believe you misunderstood my initial contribution in this matter.
