Karmi Brits defiant in the face of Orams verdict

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Dr J » Mon May 11, 2009 9:51 pm

Your insistence on our isolation and lack of a solution due to your demands caused the sale of property to Brits as an economy can only develop in ways open to it.

Awww the poor Turkish Cypriots with their brand new Mercedes and nice houses and land that doesnt belong to them - boo hooooooooo :(

Cut the crap, who are you trying to kid??

I couldn't agree more. The gobby aggressive ones are starting to behave like cornered rats while the nice-but-dim brigade are quietly bricking themselves in their expat ghettos. Posting on the northern forums these days is a bit like administering the coup de grace and well worth the effort of re-registering every week or so.

i think everyone here is stressed about the orams thing and its not bringing out the best in them.
the general feel of things is they won't go shopping in the south anymore and anyone who does is a traitor.
i guess thats me then, and many others, lol.

Agreed .... but it was your out of context confusion comparing Hellenic and Roman fora which led to the diversion. Perhaps your disposition for circles again

Octavian was right,.............. couldn't possibly have been Greek or she wouldn't have had so much trouble with her asp.

Aaahh! I said Octavian would have you believe she wasn't Greek! ... He knew very well himself she was Greek ... but how else could he convince his countrymen to go to war with those they admired/envied the most?

Why would I want to confuse Hellenic and Roman fora if not for you to "straighten" me out?

I thought Octavian was dead? "Would have had you believe.........." etc

But you are presently alive  and his arguments are still amongst us!

I may well be alive, but you know what lying bastards these Cypriots are

That's no way to speak about those "Cypriots" who are your neighbours, up there in Kyrenia, is it? ... After all they had the 'good grace' to sell you a very cheap property ...

Oh .. but maybe they lied about whether you could keep it!

Well of course they did, but I don't mean only my neighbours but ALL who have a highly selective memory and fail miserably to remember certain unpleasant truths.

Salutations suet! :D

You are very welcome to remind "ALL" of these "unpleasant truths". Are they from experience, or hearsay from the north?

You may begin .... "Friends, Romans, Countrymen ....."

... I am all ears! 8)

Throughout history there have been wars and invasions. Empires have risen and fallen and land has changed hands. Cyprus is no different. It is awful, people can be barbaric, but 1974 was 35 years ago. The vitriol has to be dropped and people have to move on. My own kin were cleared from the highlands to Canada and Australia by the English to make way for sheep, but its history now. Lets move on.

You say that now, braveheart, because you have freedom and your own parliament.

You do not have 320,000 (population equivalent) English Troops keeping 2 Million Scots out of Scotland and selling-off their crofts to the French etc ...

I do believe Highlanderwolf is advocating war as the only means of securing Cyprus's freedom. I do believe Cypriots are fully aware of this but, given their relative size, it can only be fought diplomatically, politically, legally and economically. And it's a war Cypriots have become increasingly adept at waging. Because right rather than might is on their side.

The version I was taught was that our ancestors were booted out by their own countrymen lackeys at the behest of another Scot, the Duke of Sutherland, who owned the lot. But hey, why not blame the English as usual? Facing up to unsavoury aspects of the past is the moral duty of citizens of any country.

Forgive my suspicious nature, but I find it hard to accept you have a property in Paphos and also one in Kyrenia, pre-74 no less. I've known of many who have moved from one side to the other, but nobody who keeps a foot in both camps. Would you tell me your member name on any "TRNC" BB and direct me to any post where you have posed challenging questions against the Turkish position?
