I saw a program on Dutch TV two days ago about TURKEY joining the EU, during the program they showed a clip in English of Obama upholding the very close relationship with Turkey and its full backing for EU membership.
Is that it? And how do you suppose Turkey can get into the EU while its occupying the territory of an EU member state which holds a veto over its accession? Or did they not mention that part?

If Cyprus uses its veto as you say Turkey will not be able to join the EU .

Stop arming Turkey? Impose sanctions? Doing so isn't in the US's perceived geo-strategic interests.

What is this? "The Cyprus problem for the under 12s" thread?

It looks like you have solved the Cyprus problem all by yourself ! 8)

Why thank you, little man. Although I wouldn't want to take full credit.

Cyprus doesn't have to use its veto. It has in place a number of legal precedents in the courts and a number of procedures in the EU to prevent Turkey from proceeding with its application. Just enough to keep Turkey frustrated while keeping the carrot dangling in front of them. It's a fine-balancing act, but Cyprus is playing its cards well.

If it is playing its cards well, why has it kept us waiting for 35 years !

Turks are slow learners. It has taken Turkey this long to realise that its occupation of Cyprus has reached a dead-end.

Not really we are all doing so fine, let's leave the strategies to the politicians.

Perhaps you may be right. On the other hand it shows that we too are not too gravely concerned about solving the Cyprus problem.

Do you or don't you?

'Cos if you do, share them so we can all rip them to shreds, and if you don't, stop undermining efforts with your pointless insertions.
