Furniture

Postby Sotos » Sat May 09, 2009 1:11 am

A relative of mine bought a house and they now want to furnish it. They checked IKEA but they didn't like many things there. They like the things of Boconcept but the prices there are too high. Are there any furniture stores in Cyprus that sell furniture of the design and quality of BoConcept at prices that are closer to IKEA :? I doubt. So what I was thinking is to tell them to buy from abroad and ship to Cyprus. Do you think they could find better deals in the UK and how much would it cost them to send a container with furniture to Cyprus?

Do they need to fully furnish the whole house in one go? :?

I don't think so, and it's more fun to spread out the buying process since your tastes change even over a few months.

So why don't they buy the expensive sofa they like from BoConcept, and maybe a coffee table ... and buy the bedroom furniture from IKEA.

Then when they can afford more again, they can replace the bedroom furniture with what they like from BoConcept (or others by then) in say 6 months to a year's time, and move the IKEA furniture in the second/spare bedroom etc etc.

Then their house can evolve with them ....

If they want something cheap then Their choices are IKEA or Superhome Centre or the likes of Orphanides / Carefour furnishings as these do not charge for any labour as you are supposed to do it by yourlsef (DIY). All the rest will not only charge for labour but also for any brand names etc.

Maybe they are searching for something that does not exist.....

There is always a deal to be had at BoConcept, also ask about the discontinued lines and the returns, they have huge stocks.
Shipping from the UK to Limassol, part container 7 cubic Metres =£1,2000 door to door.

I think i've seen their catalog some time ago. They were OK I think. I will suggest it to them.

Yes ;)

They don't want something cheap. They want something expensive at low cost ;) OK maybe not low cost but just "lower cost". It doesn't need to be as cheap as IKEA and DIY furniture.

Bo Concept is expensive only in Cyprus, because of the local thief/representative:

Compare the prices in these two catalogues

Cyprus
http://www.boconcept.com.cy/Online_catalogue-77635.aspx

Germany
http://www.boconcept.de/Online-Katalog-77640.aspx

Compare any item! The difference is huge: more than 30%

Both catalogues include VAT, which is 15% in Cyprus & 19% in Germany!

What a fraud!

Thanks purdey. How much for the whole container? And when you say door-to-door you mean it includes the customs procedures and fees?
