RESTORATION OF THE APOSTOLOS ANDREAS MONASTERY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Dr J » Fri May 08, 2009 1:24 pm

Thats a point Halil, why are you talking about preserving Cyprus heritage when its the Turkish administration that has made a point of change the place names in the north, lieing about the history of archeological sites (like Salamis being built by the Romans) and basically eradicating the Cypriot culture in the north of island.

Halil does your propaganda not stop to stoop any lower??

stolen by your barbarian people when borders were opened.

I am reminded of the words of British Prime Minister William Gladstone:

"Let me endeavor, very briefly to sketch, in outline what the Turkish race was and what it is. It is not a question of Mohammedanism simply, but of Mohammedanism compounded with the peculiar character of a race. They are not the mild Mohammedans of India, nor the chivalrous Saladins of Syria, nor the cultured Moors of Spain. They were, upon the whole, from the black day when they first entered Europe, the one great anti-human specimen of humanity. Wherever they went a broad line of blood marked the track behind them, and, as far as their dominion reached, civilization disappeared from view."

Out of interest, do you admire Gladstone for his policies? or his remarks of Turco-phobia.

Give me a name of another British politician you admire, it is most likely possible one could find a conflicting statement. Would you also put that on your desk-top?

"Wonderful news"? = pollocks!

Following our only visit there some three years ago I can confirm that there has been no desecration or destruction at AA other than that caused by the Enforced Isolation.

The fabric of the building is in a poor state of repair but it is limestone and caused by natural weathering. Having said that however, on going inside what strook me was the large number of chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Most of them, I suspect, had been rescued from other churches and brought there for safekeeping.

As to restoration, this is a matter for its owners and I am sure that the Orthodox Church isn't short a cellini or two when it feels the time and conditions are right. It's got nothing to do with the Occupation Regime and doesn't require USAid.

Well, since you asked, how about David Lloyd George:

"The Turks are a human cancer, a creeping agony in the flesh of the lands which they misgovern, rotting every fibre of life ... I am glad that the Turk is to be called to a final account for his long record of infamy against humanity."
