Respect The Fallen - Friend and Foe alike!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

There must be some statistics in the annals of RoC files.

Wake up, there is one - left side of Girne.

Is it a memorial for the drugged-up rapists that fell too? Or do they have their own special monument?

Why not, that one is for how not to soldier.

....I liked this

Did the army arrest, try and imprison their indisciplined soldiers for their acts of barbarism? Because if it didn't I can keep throwing that one at the whole army!

Sorry, YFred. I don't know it.

not really a tragedy that you want to run to an official and give your name to.

Its a fact take it from us who had relatives on the receiving end of your scumbags. Those murdering sons of bitches invaded with the brutality of medieval hordes. If there are any still alive I pray with all my heart that they start dying a slow death.

Perhaps when Cyprus is re-united we can use their memorial in Kyrenia for a public toilet and their graves for a sewage treatment plant.

Respect the enemy soldier my arse

HATRED
As long as the vulgar Greek exists in this world
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
As long as I see him there like a dog
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
A thousand heads of infidel Gavurs cannot wash away this hatred.

My only aim is revenge
When my turn comes to go to battle
In one day I'll butcher a thousand Gavurs
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
A thousand heads of infidel Gavurs cannot wash away this hatred.

Even if I crush thirty thousand of their heads with a stone
Even if I wrench out the teeth of ten thousand
And throw a hundred thousand of their corpses into the river
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
A thousand heads of infidel Gavurs cannot wash away this hatred.

The whole world knows how superior the Turk is
Who crashed the Greek's fucked world over his head
Even if I burn in stokeholes the heads of five thousand of them
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
A thousand heads of infidel Gavurs cannot wash away this hatred.

Even if I slash forty thousand of them with my bayonet
And send eighty thousand of them to the devil
And hang a hundred thousand of them
By Allah, this hatred won't leave me
A thousand heads of infidel Gavurs cannot wash away this hatred.

Yes Sotos. You are quite right. Our freedom fighters should be respected and it may surprise you but they are willing to do just that.

Unfortunately for us and for those freedom fighters it was not to be, but we must accept the blame for this.

Nevertheless, they just might surprise you in the very near future and I hope we reciprocate.

The British have even build a memorial in Staffordshire, England, for 5,000 German service personnel killed in Britain during WW11, on land gifted to the German Government in 1962.

So what does this say about us? Are we upholding Alexander's legacy?

That is a cemetery where the soldiers killed on British soil were buried. We already have the equivalent in Cyprus at Wayne's Keep.

What we do not need is a Memorial to Colonialism which is what the collective tribute will be.

Please stop ... :( ... it really is like asking the Africans to have a Memorial for the slave traders .....

We shall agree to disagree. :(

Oh well that proves it beyond any shadow of doubt.
Back to the asylum dear lady and increase the dosage up one notch please.

Unfortunately Oracle, they did request from the RoC to have their memorial at Wayne's Keep. That is their preference. But the RoC declined.

I really wish you stop comparing Cyprus to Africa.

Your analogy with the slave trade is not very constructive to EOKA or Cyprus.

I suppose the German memorial in England could be offensive to some Brits as well due to the London Blitz, but they surpassed such obstacles and built a memorial to German soldiers.

I've already told you, your example is not a memorial (in Britain), it is a Cemetery. Different things! And Wayne's Keep is the equivalent in Cyprus.

As far as I know, it was the 'Memorial Organizers' that wanted a "Memorial" in a different place to Wayne's Keep ... NOT at Wayne's Keep! ... Therefore in addition to the Cemetery/Memorial at Wayne's Keep .... and that is what was declined ... probably because it is a private set-up by Right wing colonial fascists who want the "Memorial" to remember colonialism and NOT the pure memory of the fallen soldiers, whose memories are adequately respected by both parties.

The reason they can't have such a Memorial back in the UK, is that it would be declined there ALSO ... as it is a"Memorial" to Colonialism, and the UK rightfully would like to suppress glorifying an unfortunate past.

Now ... pull yourself together!

BTW

Your analogy with the slave trade is not very constructive to EOKA or Cyprus.

My analogy was to expecting victims to honour Colonialism and the slave trade. How did you extrapolate that to "not being constructive" to present day Cyprus or past EOKA?
