Talat: Turkey Won't Open Its Ports To Greek Cypriots

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby metecyp » Wed Jun 15, 2005 10:52 pm

It looks like you realy realy need us in EU

The fact is both sides (Turkey and GCs) need the EU. I won't get into why Turkey needs the EU because it's somewhat obvious but GCs really need Turkey in the EU. GCs cannot gain anything by keeping Turkey out of the EU. The only incentive for Turkey to agree on a compromise solution to Cyprus problem is the EU. The day that Turkey has no EU perspective, there would be nothing to make Turkey compromise on Cyprus problem.

Turkey much to gc’s disappointment is nothing like the pauper, backward country they would like to portray. Anyone wishing to think so is so backward that they are living in ga-ga land. Before they write about Turkey, might I respectfully suggest they actually go and see for themselves, and at least have some first hand knowledge, then they can write from experience, not ignorance nor information gleaned from here and there, which happens to support their misguided beliefs.

They accuse others of writing out of ignorance then freely write about a nation of which they have no first hand knowledge or experience whatsoever – My God what a bunch of hypocritical bigots we have to suffer.

Turkey has a $200billion dollar debt. At the moment, Turkey is being propped up by loans from the US, the IMF and World Bank. Turkey needs the EU much more than you realise! Just wait until the next economic crisis comes around. The way things are looking at the moment we probably won't have to wait too long. Then we will see how commited Turkey is in supporting the TC's.

You guys dont understand something. If a goverment in Turkey gives up TC without a real progress in EU, there will be pulic rebellion against them.

and as Metecyp says, there are two pictures in this paradox. Turkey needs GC to progress in EU, and GC needs Turkey's EU perspective to progress in Cyprus. Let's say Turkey is destabilised because of GC difucluties in EU progress, what will happen? Military will increase its weight in the country; a disaster for GC...

This is true, Talat can easy make this rebellion, What he have to say is just " Turkey is selling us" and maybe he can cry like papadapulous.

Even most probably he can make this, with real progress in EU too.

Standart people gives much credit to TC.

So at this topic TC can effect Turkey too.Intresting but It looks like TC can easily effect our inter-politics. Hmmm?
