Talat: Turkey Won't Open Its Ports To Greek Cypriots

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby brother » Wed Jun 15, 2005 5:15 pm

What Ataturk wanted is irrelivant and means nothing, the angle you must understand is that Greece and the EOKA idiots gave Turkey the reason to come, there is no more or less to it, so really if there is someone you should be really pissed off with is Greece and EOKA, no one else.

They did not help cyprus, we the cypriots would have got our independance sooner or later anyway, all they done was divide us by giving the mainland greeks and turks the opportunity to come and invade our island.

You should really understand that had greece and turkey never meddled in cypriot affairs we would probably be in a united country based on the rule of law with human rights as our guidline not trying to re-unite our island and hating each other for reasons that serves everyone else except cypriots.

we do not have that many arms. cyprus poses no real military threat to any country.

Except TC ...

Brother, EOKA could not see into the future and did not know the British Empire would fall...and besides, before EOKA came into effect, several British lords said that Britian would never give up Cyprus. It was the consistant trouble that EOKA caused against the British in Cyprus that led Britain to partially give up Cyprus.

The 63-74 events are more than enough for me to show that we are not safe with "national forces of Cyprus".

If turkish troops leave the island, why do you want to keep them anyway?

nah, if EOKA never bothered the British...then you dont know what would have happened. All I do know is, I have the upmost respect for their original ideologies.

i suggest you read THE MEMOIRS OF GENERAL GRIVAS. very good book. if britain stayed in cyprus they would never leave because of the constant wars they are involved in. to them its a nice place to set up base before attacking iraq (1st time round)
