Every living thing must have a BIRTH or a SOURCE if you like, otherwise it must be infinite... (<- reminds you of something?)

How do you know the "Universe" is "living"?

Perhaps define "living" ....

Well the earth is obviously a living thing isnt it?

So what we consider ""life""could appear like in another place within the (our) universe or the universe as a whole maybe difficult to comprehend for us,

But seeing as the earth is a living thing and its part of the universe then the universe is living innit!!

I believe there is a God, and I believe that God is the true organic life form, one that isn't given birth to or dies...

People always try to make theories on God by making comparisons through our own form of life and what we know about the universe, whereas in reality you'd really have to try and think "outside the box".

Us trying to imagine what God is like is similar to an artificial intelligence within a computer trying to work out it's creators (ie: our) form of life and how we function (live, breathe, emotions), through what it knows of it's own existance within that computer.

Ofcourse there isn't an artificial intelligence that would try to work out what life outside a computer is like...but SHOULD God exist then I believe the parallels between us and God would be the same as that of computer and humans...

Did I confuse anyone else, or just myself?!? :?

There's too much deja vu going on in this thread :?

Have we said everything before?

Are we on some wheel?

God isn't the answer to who created the universe because it leads to the inevitable question, that any inquisitive 5-year-old would ask:

Yes, but who created God?

We know enough about the evolutionary process, over billions of years since the Big Bang, that has resulted in an ever-more complex universe, including (at least here on earth), ever-more complex, ever-more intelligent life forms, now able to contemplate the existence of the universe and to question its origins.

If you believe in a "creator" therefore then we now know enough about the workings of the universe to conclude that this creator too must have evolved, over a period, to become complex enough to be able to have kick-started the process in the first place.

So you see, God is an unsatisfactory answer, merely a prompt for another question. Who kick-started God?

And, then by turns, who kick-started that which kick-started God?

Piratis, the “big bang” theory is one that attempts to explain the EXPANSION of the cosmos but NOT its birth.

The initial trigger is the most important thing and not the natural yet complex process that took place thereafter, which the “big bang” theory then tries to explain.

There are theories for the initial trigger as well. But if we assume that there was a big bang then your Religion theories are proven wrong already. Is there anything in the Bible referring to a big bang? No.

That's based on your assumption that God wanted to discuss details of the creation with man and that he would use the same terminology as the person who coined the phrase "big bang"!

The crux of the gospels is the alleged "coming kingdom of God" and not cosmos theory, but let's not sidetrack into that.

Furthermore, any specific religion theories have already been proven wrong. For example we already know for a fact that the world was not created in 7 days and that the earth is not the center of the universe.

When you read in the bible that the universe was created in 7 days it actually refers to 7 millenniums not 24-hour days!

Maybe it actually refers to the seven dwarfs?

By Snowhite you're onto something!

By the way, seven millenniums (7000 years) is still not much different than 7 days. We know for a fact that our universe is more than 10 billion (10000000000) years old ;)

Now like a good religious person go and "refer" from your bible what science taught you, and say that each day is a billion years ;)

God tells us it took him “6 days” to CREATE the universe, (on the 7th he rested) but he doesn’t say how long ago so don’t jump to conclusions…
