Zeitgeist (pronounced [ˈt͡saɪtgaɪst] (help·info)) is a German language expression literally translated: Zeit, time; Geist, spirit, meaning "the spirit of the age and its society". The word zeitgeist describes the intellectual, cultural, ethical and political climate, ambience and morals of an era (similar to the English word "mainstream") or also a trend. In German, the word has more layers of meaning than the English translation, including the fact that Zeitgeist can only be observed for past events.Or your Northern friends, (Including yourself) can refer to the Dictionary of the history of ideas, here.

Thanks for that mate/matess.
My northern friends, do you see the news our wise, new member/memberess brings. The times have changed, things have moved on, the rest of the world outside the north has progressed.
Stop living in the 1950's and catch up with the new life, with the new spirit of the age, with the here and now of the 21st Century.
My brothers and sisters, turn on the lights of the new age, reject the Oppresive Occupation, rejoin the Free New World, and regain your dignity.
(thanks again for the enlightenment spirit)
Bill,
I think that your northern friends have the right idea to be honest. You say they are stuck in the past, but I don`t think that is such a bad thing. They are showing that they are not tempted into a capitalist way of living. It is capitalism that is destroying our planet and the way we think about the land we live on.
If Cyprus was to adopt the ideas of Fresco, I think that Northern Cyprus would find the transition so much easier. Southern Cyprus is too greedy and would find it much harder to give up It`s wealth.
I was fortunate enough to see Cyprus pre invasion. What a beautiful island it was back then. Turks and Greeks living happily side by side, very little crime and so much to see. N.Cyprus has remained that way while the South is now smothered in bars, Restaurants hotels and holiday apartments which has produced greed , hatred, and lack of respect for the Island itself. If I was to consider coming to Cyprus for a holiday in the future, I would prefer to go N.Cyprus. Simply because I am not blinded by money and wealth.
There are millions of people who think like me and I hope that the Turkish Cypriots don`t go down the capitalist route. In fact, N.Cyprus is perfect for the development of a new and modern mini city such as Fresco`s Venus Project and a resource based economy.
Change is something that most of us don`t want or can`t handle, but if it means a better life for al of us and the generations to follow, then we need to start thinking about what we can do.
There are many groups and organisations out there trying to change the world for the better, but the Zeitgeist Movement seems to be the one which is growing the fastest and IMO, has the best ideas.
Money is destroying our Earthship.
Did you know that 1 % of the worlds population owns 45 % of the worlds resources and that 55 % of the population earns less than $ 1 per day???
As the rich get richer, more and more people die of starvation and curable diseases.
Democracy and freedom is just a way to suck people into a capitalist environment and unwittingly become paid slaves that enables the corporate bosses and powers that be, become richer and more powerful.
We must pull together and stop this madness. But first we need to change the way we think about ourselves and each other. The powers that be want us to hate each other. This makes it easier for them to brainwash us into wars for new territories and even more wealth for them. Don`t be fooled by this. Don`t expect our leaders to change the world for the better. It`s up to us as individuals. You and me.
