Greek - How to speak?

Postby zgn » Sat May 02, 2009 1:47 pm

Ok, I am one of the upstarts that have retired to the North (pre74 Turkish Title land before we get side tracked on that one) and left nothing in the UK to return to. Live here on pensions and no savings and amongst the locals and not the expats as we wished to be true guests of our hosts and help them as much as they help us. There, scene set.

We have learnt a fair bit of Turkish and that is not an easy thing to do but now we can have the occasional trip across the line into the RoC we need to have some simple words in Greek at our disposal.

Would anyone please let us know what the words are for the following and if possible print them out phonetically (as they is spoke) so we can say the right thing in the right place:

Please?
Thank you?
Sorry?
Excuse me?
Can I help you?

That will do for now if anyone can help. Many thanks.

Cyprus isn't set up so that you can flit "back and forth" fraternizing with Turks who occupy our country and then expecting to patronise Greeks with a few well chosen words!

Criminal coloniser!

Use English
