Greek - How to speak?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

How to annoy G/Cs ? Simply tell them you live in the occupied part of Cyprus !!!
Seriously though mate , you don't have to learn Greek to be in Cyprus. Everyone speaks English and it is NOT considered rude to address anyone in English , unless of course you are addressing Oracle !!

RichardB, Jerry, Many thanks, it is just what I need.

Oracle?
Sorry, I do not "Flit" backwards and forwards fratanising with Turks, they live in Turkey and that is a bit far to flit. Neither do I try to patronise the Greeks, they live in Greece and that is not to far away but far enough not to have to bother. If Greece was twined with France it would all make sence to me.

Instead, I prefer to have a small number of words at my command so that I can be polite to Cypriots! A divided nation of peoples who speak two different langages.

"Criminal coloniser!"???????????? Do not understand that statement but I have no doubt that you will explain how I am solely responsible for every miss deed and missfortune that has ever befallen the Greek Cypriots worldwide. I guess that taking no responsibility for anything easily obsolves you of everything.

miltiades,
Thanks for that as well. Strange through, the G/C's I have already met and made friends with only want to know things about the North and of course why I settled there instead of the South - difficult to answer that one as I lived in the South for some years as a serviceman and loved it there as well. But, in the main, the G/C's I know are only interested in what is happening and could care less which part I live in so long as I have done it legally - which I have. So I am happy but still trying to learn the basics that I have long forgotten since 1965!

Really, there are no Turks in the occupied territories where you say you live?

Not 40,000 odd Turkish troops?

Not 100,000 or more Anatolians we were told formed the electorate recently?

Neither do I try to patronise the Greeks, they live in Greece and that is not to far away but far enough not to have to bother. If Greece was twined with France it would all make sence to me.

You asked for phrases in Greek!

Instead, I prefer to have a small number of words at my command so that I can be polite to Cypriots! A divided nation of peoples who speak two different langages.

Well there's your take home message, now you've spat it out! Feel better you get to tell us we are "divided"? Feel better you can flit back and forth amongst two divided "nations" speaking two different languages?

"Criminal coloniser!"???????????? Do not understand that statement but I have no doubt that you will explain how I am solely responsible for every miss deed and missfortune that has ever befallen the Greek Cypriots worldwide. No, you are not solely responsible, but you love the fact you can say you played your part.

I'm with Ray on this.
! You are obviously not wanted in Britain and you are certainly not wanted in Cyprus.

And you wonder why you have a problem on the Island - take a look in the mirror prat!

I have little time for small minded people and even less for those who would lower themselves enough to tell the world that they are an "Oracle". Met too many of your type before all over the world, insignificat rabble rousers with little in the way of original thought. Where were you born? Back streets of London and helped with the fish and chip shop untill you discovered a cause to fight for?

Go back to your roots and examin them closley. If you have any that is.

The problem on the Island is because of people like you and the Turks ... wanting what people like me have!

I have little time for small minded people and even less for those who would lower themselves enough to tell the world that they are an "Oracle".

I don't tell the world I am "an Oracle" idiot who "tells" the world he is a "zgn".

It's a log-in name, dork!

I was born in my village home because my mother couldn't get to hospital as the "friendly" Brits were bombing us!

Go back to your roots and examin them closley. If you have any that is.

Why don't you stop trying to destroy mine ...

Well I was trying to be nice old fella

But calling O a prat is just not on

and she has many original thoughts -they might not be to everyones liking but on this forum we get to express our views and are pretty much self moderating

If your inability to take criticism is as you have shown then I suggest you go elsewhere for advice

Fish and Chip shop eh

Can I have 2 legs open O

He's obviously here to make himself feel better under the present circumstances of a collapsing world. There's nothing I despise more than two-faced hardened criminals who have risen above their station mixing with too many low-down dirty Turks!

But would you kindly explain (what I hope is a fishmongery idiom) about the "2 legs open" ....
