I am intereted in any info or advice on employing a live in housemaid which seem quite popular here, i am obviously just making initial enquiries as to their wages, legal requirements etc. and what nationalities are reccommended and of course should i be interested how do i go about finding one. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

I think the salary is about 300 Euro plus tickets, insurance and some other fees. Cypriots prefer housemaids from Sri Lanka or Philippines but because these countries are not in EU it is not very easy to bring them if you don't have some special needs, like health problems. You will need to contact an agency that specializes in this. You can't do it on your own.

Yes, I think if you want to employ a non-EU citizen there has to be special needs; ill health or being over 65 (I think). My friend earns 357 EUROS per month, plus her Social Insurance contributions,health insurance, a return flight ticket home every 2 years and there is the Agent's and Government Fees.

A contract sets out working hours.

thank you for that info , it sounds to me like a housemaid from the E.U. would be easier but more expensive i imagine.
