How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

18% of this 65% =11.5%
35% State owned land
50% of this 35% = 17.5%

11.5% + 17.5% = 29% this figure is always on the tbale now we know why.

VP the calculations are not as easy as that. 1% of land in the south does not equal 1% of land in the north. Try 1% in the south=10% in the north and you will be nearer the figure. Its current land values and not square meters of land being compared.

Got this from the horses mouth today.

If thats what Talat is asking, do you know what Christofias has offered?

Well, that should answer Y-Front's question...

Amongst other things, the events of this week have reaffirmed that any equation is a pollocks calculation.

One of the Realities on the Real Ground is that Legal property owners, as per the Legal Kochans, have free use of their property to do with it as they wish.

Can they come over and throw out the current occupants?

There isn't a logic VP, other than that based on the idea that the TC State should roughly correspond to the TC population (18%-20%) plus an extra allowance to accommodate the increase of this (TC) population due to the return of GC refugees and others into that area and which would have been allowed to become as many as up to 1/3 of the total "TC" State's population. Therefore, if 19% equals to 2/3 (66%,) then 1/3 (33%) equals 9.5%. Consequently: 19% + 9.5% = 28.5%

Therefore, it has nothing to do with land ownership, but rather with the percentage of Cypriot people expected to permanently inhabit in each zone. Of course, what they did not take into consideration is the perspective or potential value of each zone, and the fact this so-called TC state would have included 54% of the entire coastline of Cyprus, arguably the by far more favorable, expensive and economically viable territory of the country.

Still not convinced as this figure is always banded about and there must be logical reasoning behind it, I think my friends calculation is the nearest we will get. This figure would be acceptable to most TCs allowing for a cetain number of GCs who want to return and claim their property. Can you guess what % of GCs would want to live in the TRNC?

The distribution of private ownership by community based on the Cyprus Surveys Department (includes land in the SBAs) is the following:

Other communities (Armenians, Maronites, etc.), 91,406, 1.8%
Total. 5,067,572 donums, 100.0%

The distribution of private and Private and public land according to the same figures is the following:

Private: 5,067,572 donums, 73.3%
State forests, state lands, roads, rivers, etc., 1,847,820 donums, 26.7%
Total, 6,915,392 donums, 100.0%

So where the hell 10% of property and land has lost that belonged to 10% of TCs who emigrated between the years 1878-1960? All international sources prove that TCs constituted 1/3 of population in the begining of Brit Rule.

VP, I tried to give you a logical explanation. If you are not convinced, then there is also that "F" world which may also convince you!

Insan, before 1571, the amount of Turkish land and Turkish population in Cyprus was 0%!
