The "Orams" in Karmi take turn

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

They are still using the property illegally. If they wanted to rent property that belongs to a GC then they should have rent it from the GC that owns it!

yes, but it might be a bit harder to win the case if it can be shown that the property would otherwise cease to exist had they user not taken it on.

I remember going up there in the early 80s and the kids were warned not to go in to the abandoned houses as they were unsafe.

yes, i believe your right all karmi properties are leasehold.

if i remember rightly somewhere i read that when the case was in the uk courts mrs orams broke down and cried admitting she did know what she was doing when she purchased the land.
so now i guess she cannot blame the uk gov or anyone else.

The best thing for them to do is to pay the fines, acknowledge their wrong doings, demand their money back from the Turks and go live in some decent place and have a decent carefree life!

At the same time why was the tc owned land more expensive than the gc owned property in the occupied?...if the properties were on par then I could I agree with you, but that wasn't the case...they knew exactly what they were doing...

Spoton boomers I've made this point a couple of times today already in reply to those who have been defending the carpetbaggers who have been posting

I agree that the majority of Brits were completely aware they were buying stolen goods. The only English/Irish chap I knew who had bought some "monastery" in the north, told me it was "time to move on", and we should "stop harping back to the past" ... I hope he is consoled by this thought as he does time ....

Admittedly, Britain didn't attempt to stop them ... but it was the Turks who encouraged this on a massive scale ... and it is the Turks who should be made to pay by complete withdrawal from EU territory!

Here is a photo I took at Karmi. The day I visited there (two years ago) I had parked in front of the village church. A Greek Cypriot family was also visiting their (old) home. They had difficulty finding parking space. I cut short my visit to allow them to be able to park their car. They smiled and I was saddened.

If not the best, it is definitely one of the most beautiful villages in Cyprus. It was also famous for its isolated position. It made it a safe place from burglary etc. I heard that is no longer the case.

Karmi = Karaman(for those who are interested)

They are civil actions by individuals against individual thieves. Not a class action situation.

In any event best to drip feed them through the Courts, on at a time, for max effect. Wouldn't you agree VP?

I hear that Mr Constantis Candounas, the solicitor who acted for Mr A, has taken on the next target in the anti-squatter campaign. I believe the next victims to be dragged before the courts will be the GB couple The Wedons of Canterbury, Kent who I understand took on a lease on stolen property in the village of Karmi, Kyrenia District. I further hear that a writ had been served on these people in a Nicosia court in 2007.

Mr Candounas - ise chakkos re. :D
