Famagusta in Brussels

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Weird. My aunt is a refugee from Mari and she calls her village as Tatlısu. Even last time we visited Mari, there was still an old, damaged, TC coffeshop with a nameplate on the wall; "Tatlısu Kahvehanesi" was written on it.

I know most of the T.C's from Polis went to Serhadkoy/ Filia near Morphou and from Androlikou to Canlibel/Myrtou.As for Pano Yialia,I can tell you it is in very good condition and a very desirable location. The old schoolhouse is now a well-known taverna and the former inhabitants are in Syrianokhori, now called Yayla, very aptly and visit quite often,so there is hope yet for reconciliation between Cypriots.

We are a smaller population ad we looked after nearly all their properties all they did with ours is knock them down or intentionally leave them to deteriorate.

No VP, they look after arable TC land in South very well. They have been freely cultivating many goods on "stolen" TC arable land and then freely selling them to whatever country they wish. No one, including u and all others sued them abt doing this illegally. U, VP; just know how to argue with others, hours and hours just for amusement. All other who have the same mentality like urs just do the same. Just argue but no legal actions against it.

I agree now the TC counter claims will start as the TCs who have exchanged land in the south will now demand it back through the courts in the south who cannot delay or discriminate nor can they link verdicts to a solution being found....

Here is the one TC is waiting to get from result from ICJ .

His name is Erdoğan ATAKAN .News was published at Daily Kibris today .

He is claiming back his land .Like him 52 man also waiting hopefully the result. He is from Tatlısu village from Larnaka discrete.

from below link u can read rest of the story İnsan .
İf u can translate it will be much better insan.

AiHM den Günbekliyor.

There are methods and processes for him to get his land and if he does I will be very happy for him..

Now explain to me Halil, why are you so unhappy that its now harder for the foreigners to buy our land in the north?

DT ,
İ am not interesting if foreigner can buy or not buy . In here above man applied to ROC courts to get his land and desicion from Greek Cypriot court was he can not get his peoperty till solution of Cyprus problem . than he applied to ICJ .from his application 4 years passed and still he is not in list . Double standard .... thats what we call it ..... double standard ..... Thats what the man his complaining about . (they accepted his application yet he did not get the date)

Tatlısu is not in North Matmazel Anna ..... In his place at the moment electricity systems for Larnaka is installed .

Right, most of the TC refugees from Mari(Tatlısu) settled down to Akatu(Tatlısu) but they still call Mari as Tatlısu. Maybe since Ottoman times, most of the villages in Cyprus have one Turkish name and one Greek name.

According to 1973 documents 1200 TC's were living in this village .May be Deniz will know it .Village was located 39 kilometers away nortwest of the Larnaka.

T_C , Insan is correct about the village name we call it Tatlısu and Greek name is called MARI ......

People of the people Mari (Tatlısu ) settle in Akanthou now.

and from below link u can read more T_C .... it is not the only from Mari or Tatlısu people are applied for the European courts .

I am not confusing Anna ... ı don't know how old are u but it is very clear u know most of the things about our history from one side of it . Turkish Cypriots always had Turkish names also for their villages . Inmaps may be u could not see it but there was a always Turkish names too .

For Mari it was called Tatlısu by Turkish Cypriots .

Like Istinjo was called Tabanlı ,

My village Kirini called Pınarbaşı ,

My Birth place Photta called Dağyolu ...

Evdim was called Düzkaya .

Forum member Deniz village Anglisia called Aksu and Deniz took his sir name Aksulu (means from Aksu)

from below link . It will be easy to find out TC villages which were left in South Cyprus. In this map it can be easly read Turkish names and Greek/latin name of the villages what was called by the Turkish Cypriots before 74 . by looking the map also u can see same names are also used in north too .It is called from the people that they left their homes in south.

Like people of the Larnaka used to call Iskele for Larnaka .Most of the people from Larnaka are settle down in Trikoma now and they call it Yeni Iskele (new Iskele)

Where are they all now?

Postby cymart » Sun May 03, 2009 8:20 pm

It would be really interesting to know where the Turkish Cypriots from villages in the south are living now and how they chose the present names for the Greek-Cypriot villages they live in?In the case of Tatlisu/Mari you can make an accurate guess but this is not always the case and can be misleading! For example,Esenkoy is now used for Kilanemos in Karpas, but Esenkoy in the south was Armenokhori and I know that the people from there did not go to Karpas but somewhere like Exometokhi/Duzova.....How were people allocated to different villages when they went to the north?Who now lives in Bellapais for example?
Personally,I would prefer Akanthou to Mari anyday to live in-Mari is badly polluted by the smoke and dust from Vassiliko power and cement works!
Some of the names given to villages in the north are really silly and without meaning and even Turkish Cypriots have told me this themselves!
