Two Aces for negotiations

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Two Aces for negotiations

Postby boulio » Wed Apr 29, 2009 4:57 pm

According to politis article the ECJ "handed" the ROC two aces concerning negotioations of two chapters that were discussed.Property and the European Union.

Property:Basically backs up ROC position that the original land owner first right and say concerning his property

European Union Basically states that cyprus is in the EU and protocol 10 is the only way that the north will come in as well.Basically no virgin birth

do you think the ROC will use this to her advantage, are the t/c understanding the consewuence of this ruling in its entirety and will they continue with nogotiations?

I personally really hope negotiations continue and if anything this decision helps the negotiations move forward.I think the article however shouldn't state it aces,it if anything is the right thing especially concerning properties.

The ruling by the ECJ was nothing to do with the rights of ownership within Cyprus. The ECJ has no jusrisdiction to make determinations about who validly owns what in Cyprus. The ECHR on the other hand does have such jusrisdiction and has made its judgments long beforre this ECJ ruling.

It could be that this ECJ leads to a negoitated settlment that both sides are able to vote yes to, but it could also end up being the final nail in the coffin as far as an undivided Cyprus goes. Time will tell.

If G/cs/Greece send to hell all their politicians governing both countries during the last 50 years then -there is a hope-otherwise my grand, grand, grand child , after 100 years will handle the case.
