A bi-communal, properties board should have been established in 1975 to solve the property problems of all refugees.
Had the GC land Orams built their villa on, been an legally exchanged land between the TC refugee and the GC owner; there wouldn't have been any problems today. However, in a small island that illiteracy and scoring a political point rule, the main cause is how much damage we can cause each other.
There are three problems with your theory…
1. Donktosh, always thought he was too smart to be affected by international law so nothing constructive could ever get through to him anyway, thereby wasting many decades.
2. Your theory is based on the assumption that Greek Cypriots would accept swapping land/property towards a partition… think again!
3. Even if they did, there are not enough TC land/properties in the unoccupied area to facilitate “direct swaps” because there are some 185,000 GC refugees versus 55,000 odd TC refugees so it’s just NOT possible.
