Divorce settlements in Cyprus

Postby Omegaman » Wed Apr 29, 2009 3:57 am

Hi, I am a regular reader on this forum but its my first time posting. What kind of settlements/division of property from a  husbands (or the richer spouse) assets are wives (or the poorer spouse ) getting rewarded??

I hope it is not crazy amounts (they even get 50% of inherited property or even a BUSINESS!!!!!!)like in England even if the wife(or poorer spouse) has been having several affairs or withholding  sex... Womens infedelity means nothing to English dominitrix whipping judges. No they make companies go bust and workers lose jobs so  Mrs bitchy can have a party!!!
Also and this is realy below the belt.... Do you think some wives (or the one that wants the cash/ and especially forighn ones without strong emotional ties to Kipros)  :roll:wanting a divorce, are  laying in wait(pretending to their hubbies/wives that all is rosy) for a Cyprus solution or at least ,somthing like the Orams decision to get their sharp evil greedy claws into??The thought of it makes me sick...And remember it could effect all the overseas Cypriots who own land in IOTA as well!What do you all think??
Sorry to bring up such a horrible subject but i had a nightmare last night night that it was happening to me :shock:

Grounds for divorce:

Infidelity;
Immoral, disgraceful or other repeated unpardonable behaviour leading to complete breakdown of the relationship and rendering the relationship intolerable to the applicant;
Attempt on a spouse's life, e.g. physical assault;
Insanity over a three-year period rendering cohabitation intolerable;
A final conviction leading to imprisonment of a spouse for seven years or more,
Spouse declared missing presumed dead;
Inability to have sexual intercourse existing when the marriage was contracted and continuing for six months and at the time the divorce application is made;
Inexcusable desertion for two years. Long periods of absence adding up to more than two years. An invitation to return must be addressed to the respondent;
Change of religion or the use of moral force or attempt to convert to a sect;
Persistent refusal to have children, despite the wishes of the other spouse;
Serious breakdown;
Separation for five years.

Divorce does not have consequences for property disputes; another application must be made to settle such disputes.

Divorce does not automatically entail an obligation to pay maintenance to the other spouse. Another separate application must be made once the couple is separated.

Hope this helps ;)

From what I know every case is different. But I think that inheritance is part of the divorce settlemant.

Any assets purchased during the marriage can be split, but if money is made before the marriage, then it depends on surcomstances and the judge.
