So civilised that the international community refuses to recognise you and finds against you in every legal and international forum. And here we are trying to get you lot into the European Union so that you start behaving like a civilised people and respect the rule of law. What do you think this is all about if not to get a bunch of Anatolian goat-herders to become like Europeans?

I do not know who you think I am (or any other TC for that matter), but I am as legaly Cypriot as you presumably are and as a Cypriot I became an EU citizen at exactly the same time you did as a Cypriot.

This idea that 'us lot' are all barbaric uncivilised Turks, where as you are moral ethical exemplars of civilised behaviour is as childish stupid divisive and destructive an idea as it is inherently racist.

Futher the idea that your actions as a community in Cyprus since 1960 to today are motivated by a desire to 'help us become civilised like you', shows a kind of ethnic / racial arrogance that typifed the colonial era you supposedly detest and is such obvious and total bollocks that any reasonable person would be ashamed to claim it even in a semi annonymous fora like this one.

It isn't the Greek Cypriots who have fought to partition the island and live segregated from their fellow citizens. In case you missed it, it's our policy to re-unite the island, not to allow the north to become a Turkish fiefdom. And yes I regard Turkish and TRNC policy to partition the island, destroy its heritage and deprive its citizens the right to live and settle in their ancestral homes as barbaric and uncivilised. I judge a people not by their race but by their actions.

Oh for crying out loud. Spare me your sanctimonious twaddle. See my answer above. Stop living in the past. It's Greek and ROC policy to support Turkish entry to the EU. If you think we're doing it to be nice to you, then you are sadly mistaken. It's because we think it will mean Turkey will give up its aggressive, militaristic past and stop creating trouble for us. Rather like the EU did with the Germans. And yes that means leaving Cyprus, and all the other little human rights issues that the EU expects. So don't kid yourself that Turkey can just walk into the EU without a whole lot of democratic reforms.
