Archbishop asks Greece for support in 'tricky' times
Archbishop Chrysostomos II

Archbishop of the Church of Cyprus, Chrysostomos II, has asked Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis for the substantial support of the Greek government to avoid “amateur” handling in a new solution plan for Cyprus.
Speaking after his meeting with the Greek prime minister on Thursday, the archbishop told reporters that he'd had the opportunity to express his concerns about the Cyprus problem.
The archbishop told Karamanlis that Greece has to play its role and give substantial support because “times are tricky”.
He added that any solution plan must be studied in depth by Greek experts to make sure that the agreement - to be reached between the island’s two communities - will not collapse and mark the end of Hellenism on the island.
“We want a functional solution, which will also be sustainable. If the solution is functional and viable, it will also have the support of the Church," he said. - (KYPE)
