You will feel a very rich woman.

Keep your head up....sun is free!!

You are kdding, If i told you half of it you would cry
it makes me sick, its disgusting, wrong and dirty what goes on.
dont get me wrong, living in cyprus was one hell of an experience, i loved it, but being stolen from over and over by one nationality you cant help but take it personally.
I have seen so many young familys loose so much because of people being corrupt.
who are the high up people to help in these situations? no one they dont exsist, as they are all after the same, nothing in the world will ever make me think otherwise.

I have lived in the uk for many years kafenes and have never been stolen from, never seen any corruptive activity (maybe on the news)
Ive walked into a car showroom and ive bought a car and the deal was fair and square. infact. you see in the uk we have what is called trading standards, these standards are high and by most if they are not fair and stick to the rules, they are in trouble.
After spending a whole year preparing for my big move to cyprus, the first day there a cypriot friend of whome i had known for a very time took me to the bank to vhange up money, was told what the exchange rate was at that time by the lady in the bank, only to discover later that it was incorrect and the cy friend had took shit loads of my money.
hat was a solicitor going to do..the same! the lady in the bank just shrugged her shoulders!
The same day I went to purchase my car to get me to work each day, only to have the same problem..i was told it was 2 years old, when i collected the car the logg book was not ready, okay that was fine i thought, these guys were nice, gave alot of hospitality, nescafe on tap and seemed very pleasant people indeed. it wasnt intill a few months later when i wanted to sell the car an english guy toldme it was not 2 yesrs old it was 7!! i had paid £4000cyp over for the car!! bastards.
I went to a solicitor who was the chief of police's daughter..funny how they are all related to the police!! more like they want you to think they will be good and no one will mess with them if they are related to the rozzers! anyway she wrote to the car place and they didnt respond, after one letter she charged me nearly 1000 Euros..WTF, if i didnt pay her father chief of police would put me jail.
at this pint i knew i had to be very careful with everything i had as i knew the cyps would robb me dry.
the stories go on and on and court cases on going.
I know the uk is expensive and the crime rate is higher in the uk, but in many many ways its a sfer place to be.
I think many cyps dont see a great deal of many and would do anything to get their hands on yours.
I have met many cyps who im fond of and have been geniune, but most ive met have been dirty, robbing shits.
never trust.

BCFWM, I don't deny it, I was just expressing my view of how the whole world is now. Paphos, admitedly, is worst then the rest of Cyprus. But you must think what has made this people change so much so suddenly. Twenty years ago, nobody would lock doors and windows of their houses and most shops were left open while shopkeepers went home for lunch. What has happened in the last 20 years?

This was a good thread, but has now been destroyed with negativity and hysteria.... :(

@ Kafenes

I find your post above interesting.

Can you tell us what you think the answer is?

Then perhaps the thread can get back to its intended purpose, where members can post wonderful photos and tell us why they believe Cyprus is great.... :D

You should be sorry BCFWM, because you have just trashed this thread with your negativity.

You open your own specific thread dealing with "corruption" here:

http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=26391

so the least you could do is post your thoughts on "corruption" in that thread and leave this one alone....Tah!

I know you was, and the world is a tough place where ever you go.
I would love to know what makes people think its fair to do indecent things and break the law.
And the problem in cyprus is going to get worse all the while they are not being brought to justice for breaking the law.
The bad cyps are like children getting away with being naughty and not being dissaplined

im sorry for you that are obvious bad things that do happen in cyprus.
I was making a comment if you care to read through it.
im also sorry you may not want to hear that im a positive person and i love life, and i love everything about cyprus, its a beautiful island with very nice people resident on the island.
But comeing a cropper and falling victim to the arseholes who are their, would make any one feel somewhat negative to towards this and certain aspects.
But i can honestly cast my views to one side maybe and beacuase im a positive person, hand on my heart and say they will never break me, never.
