Registering a Motorcycle in Cyprus.

Postby connor » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:15 am

Customs duties and vat have been paid on a 750cc bike imported from the UK. I have receipts for this.

The next step is to register it with the Larnaca transport dept.

Its been some years since I last registered a bike in Cyprus but from memory I think I will need to produce the following....

1) Customs duties paid receipts.
2) Driving licence.
3) Insurance certificate.

I would like to go armed with all necessary papers so if anyone has recently been through this registration procedure could you advise if I have missed anything....

Thanks.

There is no MOT test as such for motorcycles yet...but I am fully expecting the people at the registration centre to carry out an inspection on the bike when I visit them.

Thankyou for the thought though.

You can always visit them a few more times, have a couple of coffees with them, chat about their children, discuss your salary. What's the hurry?

Quite right...I'll tell them all about my dogs and donkeys and chickens and pigeons and my mate Biggus Dikkus and his wife Incontinentia Buttocks.

I'll deliberately not pronounce my R's just to confuse him.

By this time he'll be so bored out of his skull that he'll stamp the form and tell me to piss off.

Cant see why you want to register the motorcycle ? you've payed the duty now your going to pay reg fee at least 300 euros why, I brought my bike here 3 years ago payed the duty 400 cyp pounds I insured it on UK plates no problem so why register ?,Ive been stopped a few times but only to show documents which I always carry with me.When the police take action on CYPRIOT bikers who drive around with no number plates and helmets driving like madmax then I may pay some more to the governments coffers.
