So the campaign's trustees – who have raised £50,000 – have reached an agreement with the Turkish Cypriots that it will be in Kyrenia, on the north coast, in another British cemetery holding the graves of the Victorian soldiers who originally took Cyprus in 1878..
the article goes on to mention....
Our hope is that if there is a settlement in Cyprus which reunifies the island, the memorial will eventually find a permanent home at Wayne's Keep. With that in mind, it has been specifically designed to be movable, made in sections of granite."
I don't see what's wrong here, unless of course you feel the TC's have 'got one over the RoC', and anything agreed by the TC's must be countered, declared null & void, and struck down with a vengeance .
Perhaps all that is missing is for the British Cyprus Memorial Trust to approach the RoC, let them know their plans and seek their approval. Or has this already been refused ?
Once a settlement is reached (and isn't this what we all wish to happen ?) eveyone back to Waynes Keep.
