But there is always the other side. From some of the comments.

i think you have an overly rosy picture of pre-revolutionary Iran from these images. You only had to drive 10 minutes out of Tehran and villages had no electricity or running water. Literacy rates were under 50%. and the monarchy suppressed political freedom and opposition which eventually made the population prefer anything but the monarchy. not to mention that these images only portray the elites. period.

the islamic revolution in iran, isnt even islamic they are not following the true practises of islam, islam means to submit to God and peace...problem is people speak without knowledge of the religion, people should learn the basics of islam and then speak about it

Yeah, what a shame the Islamic revolution stopped Iranian women from looking and behaving like whores and following in the US’ footsteps!

Having been to Iran in January believe me the women are much more westernised than is potrayed on global news, but they have morals indoctrinated from well brought up close knit families. Niether did I see amongst my IL,s much hatred of the US. To be fair though Iran although huge and bustling and steeped in history, is a somewhat bleak place caused in part by successive governments wanting to bring back archaic living, which the larger majority of Iranians basically ignore  My IL,s are all wanting to leave they no longer practice Islam and want a change but they have along with my lovely OH a fierce love of their homeland.

Lately Cyprus is offering Iranians permanent residency in return for a property sale of €340,000 some have come to see whats on offer, one is a relative of ours. My OH has been called on for translation BUT they have heard of the property scams going on and are wary.

But interestingly the USA is coming up with a similar scheme and offering the green card for Iranians wishing to re-locate there. My BIL is thinking they have come with a better offer, hard to believe that in the end it always comes down to money.

GR! what about their Human Rights? ... or are HRs gender specific now?

Those photos look like they were from the 70's when hot-pants and miniskirts were widely worn as an expression of feminine freedom ... and the fashion was more French than anything to do with the USA.
