Is this rip off Cyprus?

Postby cyprusgeoff » Wed Apr 15, 2009 3:19 pm

I see that the price of crude oil has just gone down again but the petrol prices in Cyprus remains amazingly high. My local filling station put their prices up the other day so can any body tell me why???

The change in the price of crude oil doesn't have an immediate effect on the price of the refined products we put in our cars.

It takes some time for the crude to be transported to refineries, refined, shipped to Cyprus and then put on sale. I am not sure how long, but it must mean at least a month or two's delay before prices at the pumps are affected by the international crude prices.

Yes I realise that but compared with last December when 95 petrol was .77.4 oil has not gone up in my estimation to justify todays prices of .84.7.

Directly the price of crude rises even by a few $ 0.cents the price at the pumps shoots up straight away but when it goes down we wait and we wait until it takes a Government official threatening price capping before prices eventually are lowered by a few cents.

I'm convinced that we are being conned.

Hmmmm!!!!
Go on to You Tube, type in Lefkara.
An advert showing houses for sell in Lefkara, not far from Larnaca. Not too bad! However the pictures show the sea about 100 metres away (utter nonsense), Lefkara is in land and apparently the guy on the voiceover states that you can see Lebanon on a clear day (absolutley ridiculous). Blimey are these estate agents trying to rip off some poor Arab. Tits, ass, fanny that's what a stay. Didn't Gordon Geco (Wall Street film) Greed is good. Sort it out!

Yeah, I'm cool but I don't live in The Netherlands or Greece and neither of those countries have anything to do with the price of petrol in Cyprus as far as I'm aware.

I'm just saying that to me since November/December last year the prices at the pumps have crept up and I can't see why.
