Looking for a Long Term Rental from July 25th onwards: HELP!

Postby lollygriff » Wed Apr 15, 2009 12:40 pm

My partner and I are looking to relocate to Cyprus at the end of July. We are a young couple and wish to be in a part of the island which is occupied all year round as opposed to seasonal, yet live not in the centre of a town but a 10-15 minute or so drive away from a large town, the sea etc. (but with some shops close by.) We want culture and not to live in an estate full of English ex-pats put at the same time, want to be not to far from where English people live so we may meet and make new friends easily.
Our main requirements are that we have a 3 bedroom, fully furnished villa with air conditioning, a private pool, satellite TV and broadband internet access. We can spend £600-£900 per month and want to sign a 12 month let.

I currently work as a Lettings Negotiator and Property Manager in Bristol, England and know that local knowledge is key to finding the right property. My partner and I are planning to visit Cyprus from the 22nd April - 27th April to look at possible locations and properties. Would it be possible to meet with anyone thinking of letting their home/investment property on a long term basis? We would rather do a let with a private landlord (English) than through an agency.

Can anyone help us?! We would be most grateful!

Many thanks - Laura and Andy

Thank you for the welcome!

I already have a job and will be working from home. This is why location is not necessarily as important as the fact that I must have broadband internet access at the property we rent - this is a necessity!

Hi, sounds good working from home - saving a few Euro's in petrol too!

Have you been to Cyprus before ??

I can think of a couple of places you would like judging be your earlier post.....

BTW: I don't have a place to rent so I'm not trying to sell my property to you, but I may know someone who could help ;)

Yes, I have visited Cyprus on holiday a few years ago and loved it! However, I am not sure of where it is best for my partner and I to settle. Back then I stayed with my friend who lived north of Larnaca in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere. It was beautiful, but I am aware that if I am too far out of the towns that there may not be broadband access (which I require for work.)

If you do know of someone who may be able to help I would be delighted to speak with them or meet them whilst I visit Cyprus (22nd-27th April.) No one can advise better than someone who lives there themselves!

I would hire a car when your over and drive around and have a look for yourself.......

By the sounds of things you are alot like us in not wanting to be on an expat housing estate but close enough to a few brits which is why we picked Pissouri. It's a little village in between Paphos and Limassol.

There are quite a few Brits living there but it's nothing like Paphos !

ah! Pissouri! You're not the first to recommend this village to us. It does sound lovely.
Our plan is to hire a car and drive all over to see where grabs our attentions.

Do you enjoy living there?

Although I haven't been to Pissouri for a few years, I did enjoy the place.

Many, many years ago (70's?) I went to the wedding of my wife's cousin there which was a full three day event in the village, great fun.
