A seminar on ‘Tourism in the Islamic World’ has kicked off in Girne.(Kyrenia)
The two day seminar got underway this morning with an opening speech delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci.

The OIC Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Tori Limangana who is representing the OIC - also delivered a speech at the seminar which is being held at Savoy Ottoman Palace Hotel with the participation of 15 countries.
The seminar was jointly organized by the OIC General Secretariat, the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade, the Islamic Development Bank, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries as well as the TRNC Deputy Prime Ministry – Foreign Ministry and the Economy and Tourism Ministry.

Today’s program include three sessions, titled, ‘Tourism in the World: New Trends and Difficulties Faced’, ‘Tourism in the OIC Countries’ and ‘National Experiences in the Field of Tourism.’

The seminar – which aims to increase Intra-OIC tourism flows and investments – will continue tomorrow.

Participants will enjoy a tour of natural and historic places in the TRNC on Friday.

You forgot to mention that these are non-Islamic places they'll be visiting! :lol:

Why would they want to visit Islamic places, it doesn't make sense. They probably came from an Islamic place.

Why the fwck are they having this meeting in Kyrenia?

Pre the Turkish Invasion of 1974 there were no more than a few dozen moslem chaps/chapesses living there.

I guess on account of number of casinos in Girne you could say its the new Mecca and you would be right.

A few? 13.5% of Kyrenia's population was TCs.

I'm not sure but I guess TC refugees from Larnaca and Limassol districts moved into Girne after 1974.

No, Larnaka moved to Yeni Iskele near the Magusa bogaz, I have friends there.
