Cyprus Students World Champions in Turkey

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Bananiot wrote:So, it wasn't a high school competition then? Is this what you are saying DT? At least can we get the facts right? Is there any issue against getting the facts right first? Kifeas's version makes sense. Is this the case?

By the way, which school represented us?

Please check the website and the title "World Schools Championship"

Its a Turkish website so surely you can add it on your credible list.

How miserable are you Bananiot? Sad that the Cypriot flag flew in Antalya?

This was the national team of highschool students which is in fact the U16 national team. The same goes for all the other countries that participated in the world cup tournament.

A closer look at the lineup of the team that represented Cyprus reveals that this was not a single school team (i.e. Kykkos high school) as it icluded 3 Apollon Limassol players, 2 Omonoia FC players, 3 AEL Limassol players, 2 Paralimni players etc (btw DT no Apoel player there)..

Bananiot et al this was not some kind of mikey mouse tournament but a U16 Word Cup tournament. Players could represent their countries proovided that they were high school students.

Asil Nadir, Hüseyin Çağlayan, Derviş Bağzibağlı, Fatima Whitbread, Leon Osman, Tracy Emin, Mustafa izzet, Kemal izzet, Hal Ozsan.

I told you that there is something fishy in this DT! I hope the Organisers do not find out for they will disqualify our team and ridicule DT's country. Of course Askimows spilled the beans but, I wonder, have you worked it out DT?

If national pride is at stake then perhaps I can recommend something more serious than football to feel proud about.

After the 2007 renovation of the school, the floor looks much nicer now than when I was there in 1963 as a captive and 2007 as a visitor.!!

All great KIDS go to the Kikkos Lyceum School, one way or another.!

Bananiot, before doing your best, perhaps it is only good and fair to first comment on the fact that many of the participating schools were special sports schools -i.e. those few schools in each country were they gather all their best talents in order to provide them a customized education and training.
To name only a few:
1. SPORTSCHULE POTSDAM “FRIEDRICH LUDWIG JAHN” (GERMANY)
2. MAKELANRINTEEN LUKIO (FINLAND) http://www.mrl.edu.hel.fi/english/Yleis ... _frame.htm
3. IDRAETSSKOLERNE I IKAST (DENMARK) http://www.isi.dk/
4. ROSINA SEDIBANE MEDIBO SPORTS SCHOOL (SOUTH AFRICA)
5. BG/BORG HIB GRAS-LIEBENAU (AUSTRIA) http://www.hib-liebenau.at/hibpage/inter_engl.htm
6. LAUSITZER SPORTSSCHULE COTTBUS (GERMANY) http://www.cottbus.de/buerger/leben/spo ... 08.en.html
7. SPORTOVE GYMNAZIUM (SLOVAKIA)
