I decided not to vote on your pole Bafidi since I cannot give a clear cut answer to the question. I am a TC with an emphasis on on the "C". I was watching the Good Friday appeal on channel 7, a representative of the "Bank of Cyprus Australia" presented a cheque on the behalf of the "Greek Community" in Melbourne, no mention at all of being "Cypriot" whatsoever. Like the answer you gave to DT on another thread about being Cypriot or Australian, to me it would also depend on who is asking.

I didn't vote btw and i won't vote. First of all, imo; we should discuss the obstacles in fron of Cypriotism. There must be a lot of common grounds of Cypriots. Let's start with our national days.

1- EOKA day or TMT day?

2- Who r our common national Cypriot heroes? Makarios? Kuchuk? TPap?Denktash? Klerides?

3- Or don't we supposed to be a nation of Cypriots need national days?

4- What common grounds we have? History? Language? Religion?

Totally respect your view on this Umit. :)

So in effect you are mainly Cypriot and very proud to be Cypriot but you will also maintain your Turkish Heritage or Ethnicity and not completely abandon it like some "Super Cypriots"?

I think the majority of Greek and Turkish Cypriots are like that Umit and I like the example you give about the BOCA donation in Melbourne.

When we are United again, then perhaps BOCA will change that and declare that any donations are on behalf of the Cypriot community and that one day TCs are also employed by BOCA which is a Cypriot bank.

Patently obvious the TCs are first and foremost Turkish, with little desire to be called Cypriot unless it is on behalf of Turkey!

Any voters who do not announce their choice will have their vote deducted from the tally in order to ensure that no GC forumers have voted.

I myself am not a TC and hence will not vote as this is a matter for TC forumers only.

I have conducted this poll as I am under the impression that certain GC forumers are very racist and are denouncing Hellenic Cultural Links in the name of Cypriotism as a ploy for TCs to also abandon their Turkish Cultural links as well.

I think the definition they should be using is ASSIMULATION - A racist term in itself used many years ago in multicultural nations such as Australia, Canada and US.

:)

OMG. Another poll!!

Cypriotism contains elements of Helenism and to a lesser extent Turkish culture. This poll will not give you what you want. :?

Try again.
